Ridgewood NJ, One (1) person was injured when a Honda CRV crashed head on into a tree in the 300 block of Prospect Street, Ridgewood on Saturday evening, 02/15. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to aid the victim. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage.

“If the logic for closing the road or making it one-way is to reduce the risk of accidents from over-sized vehicles, then how about actually first making clear to drivers that this is a road for passenger vehicles only? I encourage you all to look at the signage at the top and bottom of Glenwood. You’ll see they’re all about as clear as a NYC parking sign. Moronic wording that nobody would read or decipher when turning onto the road. Who actually came up with these signs? Clowns?
Proper and clear signage – no words, pictures only – will dramatically cut down on any confused drivers from out of town. This should be the first step in addressing whatever concerns actually drive this issue.
The only other factor possibly behind the drive to make this a one-way road is the very clear anxiety among some of our collective neighbors about how to navigate their Yukon XLs down the twisty road with oncoming traffic. Wouldn’t it be easier for those drivers to simply take another route than to force this change on the rest of us?”

Ridgewood NJ, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a small business association with thousands of members in the state, and the New Jersey Civil Justice Institute filed an amici curiae brief in a case with major implications for well-intended business owners who may face punishment for relying on guidance from government agents in wage and hour disputes. The state Supreme Court is considering whether Cream-O-Land Dairy can assert a “good faith” defense against penalties for allegedly violating New Jersey employment regulations where the company acted in conformance with judgments from state officials who previously concluded—on at least three separate occasions—that the company was in full compliance. The State argues that this good faith defense only applies if the Commissioner of the Department of Labor or the Director of the Wage and Hour Bureau are personally involved; regardless of what their authorized agents may conclude or represent, the Department of Labor says that small business owners may still be liable.

“The last car crew that was stealing cars in our area was not from Patterson. They were from Elizabeth and Newark. They found a few cars and a few of the thieves they were putting the cars in containers and they were going overseas. They were not being chopped up like in the 70s. Well that’s what the least news said. We need more under cover patrols throughout the night. Maybe we need to have more but he’s working at night then during the day I don’t know. But let’s keep our cops in our towns. Maybe we need to bring in all the other law agencies to cover Their responsibilities. We should not be covering major highways. Every time there’s a major accident the local towns are there first. The state police burn county units just drive by. This is ridiculous. Maybe we should hire a private investigator to look into this issue. Many people were not like that right.”

Ridgewood NJ , according to the Ridgewood Police Department , A north Brunswick resident reported they they received a call from what appeared to be the Ridgewood Police Departments phone number. The caller advised them that there was a warrant for their arrest and requested that they provide personal information.
This phone scam spoofs the Ridgewood Police Departments phone number. Spoofing is when a legitimate number appears in the victim’s caller ID, but the originating call is not from who they claim it is from. The Ridgewood Police Department will never call and ask for personal information on the phone or ask to for money to satisfy a warrant. If you receive a similar phone call hang up and call your local police department or contact the Ridgewood Police Department directly at 201-652-3900

Trenton NJ, Senator Michael Testa said Governor Phil Murphy’s plan to upend New Jersey’s energy supply could cost New Jersey tens of billions of dollars. Welcome to the 1970’s,
“The proposed Energy Master Plan that was recently unveiled by Governor Murphy could cost homeowners tens of thousands of dollars each to convert gas appliances to electric,” said Testa (R-1). “The governor’s plan could also force our utility companies to spend billions of dollars on new electric infrastructure which customers would ultimately pay through higher energy bills. What are we doing?”

Ridgewood NJ, the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee released S368 (Cryan/Weinberg). The bill permits municipalities to require developers to make contributions for mass transit improvements.
“This legislation is important because it will make sure developers pay their fair share of mass transit costs associated with new developments. New developments create more demand on mass transit systems, and create more traffic in the area. New Jersey is one of the most densely populated states in the country, and we have some of the worst air quality in the nation,” said Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club. “Developers should be required to help offset the burden that their developments put on mass transit.”
