Newark NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey strongly encourages travelers by air, rail and road to allot additional travel time during the five-day July Fourth holiday travel period. More than 5.5 million passengers are expected to use Port Authority airports, bridges and tunnels between Thursday, July 3 and Monday, July 7, which would represent similar volumes to the same period in 2024.

Back in 1776, John Adams predicted that Independence Day would be celebrated for generations with fireworks, parades, and food. Ridgewood NJ, Join the Village of Ridgewood on Thursday, July 4th at Veterans Field for an evening of fun, entertainment, and fireworks! (Rain date: Friday, July 5, 2024). Gates open at 6:00 PM, but please note that all patrons and their belongings will be subject to security checks by the Police Department. For a smoother entry, there will be two lines: one for those with bags and one for those without. Please expect some delays, and remember that gates will close at 9:00 PM.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood 4th of July Celebration will take place on July 4th. Flag raising at the train station at 9 a.m. – parade begins at 10 a.m. Fireworks & entertainment on Veterans Field beginning with music at 6:00 pm & fireworks at approximately 9:15 pm. Tickets to the fireworks are available at Backyard Living, Bookends, Daily Treat, Goffle Brook Farms, and The Wine Seller. Also available are food trucks and a beer garden, on Veterans Field. 50/50 tickets are available for sale at Parkwood Deli, on the corner of Glen Avenue and Erie Avenue, in Midland Park, and the winning ticket will be drawn just prior to the fireworks beginning. Come and enjoy this annual tradition.

Ridgewood NJ, all Village Offices and Departments will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th, in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. There will be no garbage or recycling collection and the Recycling Center will also be closed. The Village offices and departments will reopen on Wednesday, July 5th at 8:30 a.m. Please check your recycling and garbage pickup schedules on the Village calendar or on the Recycle Coach app, as they will change next week, due to the holiday.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is recognizing the birth of our nation with “early getaway” rail and bus service beginning on Friday, June 30th to help customers start the celebration early.
Important Notice: Main, Bergen County and Port Jervis rail service is subject to up to 15-minute delays in both directions due to signal issues near Ridgewood.
