Netflix launches its ad-supported tier in the US for $6.99 a month

Ridgewood NJ, Netflix and chill with advertising, Netflix launches its ad-supported tier  in the US for $6.99 a month. The company is currently still in talks with several major studios to finalize licensing agreements. The new tier doesn’t include Netflix’s complete library. Customers will see around four to five minutes of ads per hour of content.

Academy of the Holy Angels Senior Gian Lee Wins National Gold Medal for Art

Demarest NJ,  Gian Lee, a senior at the Academy of the Holy Angels, earned a National Gold Medal in the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. She was recognized for her painting, “Photosynthesis,” which depicts the artist’s shadow cast onto lush foliage.

Murphy Administration list of Approved Vendors to help Business Owners Prepare for N.J.’s ban on single-use Plastic Products

Trenton NJ, on Nov. 4, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law P.L. 2020, c.117, which prohibits the provision or sale of single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam foodservice products in all stores and food-service businesses statewide. The law also prohibits the provision or sale of single-use paper carryout bags by grocery stores that occupy 2,500 square feet or more. The law required the creation of a vendor clearinghouse to aid businesses in identifying vendors and manufacturers who sell reusable carryout bags allowed by the new law.

5am Fire at “Big Snow” at the American Dream Mall Activates Meadowlands Fire Plan

East Rutherford NJ, East Rutherford Fire Department reports that just before 5:00am, the East Rutherford Fire Department was requested to assist the Meadowlands Fire Department for a fire at Big Snow within the American Dream. Due to the size of the building, extensive roof operations and a stubborn body of “cold smoke,” the Meadowlands fire plan was activated bringing fire departments from throughout Bergen County to the scene to assist. Wood Ridge Fire Department responded at 05:20 a response to “Big Snow” at the American Dream Mall in the Borough of East Rutherford for a Building Fire. Engine 905 responded and working with several of the surrounding towns extinguished the fire and ensured there was no further extension. Lyndhurst, Secaucus, Mahwah, Moonachie, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook, Wallington, and Jersey City Fire Departments all assisted .

Ridgefield Park Man Sentenced to 15 Months in Prison for Role in Mortgage Fraud Scheme

Ridgefield Park NJ, a Ridgefield Park , man was sentenced today to 15 months in prison for his role in a scheme to defraud financial institutions of hundreds of thousands of dollars, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced.

Dennys Tapia, 55, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Stanley R. Chesler to an information charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Judge Chesler imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.

Company Claims New Sunscreen for Pavement can lower temperature, revitalize asphalt, and dissolve car exhaust pollution

Ridgewood NJ, since we are in the middle of a heat advisory , Pavement Technology Inc. has created a spray-on treatment for pavement that can lower its temperature, revitalize asphalt, and dissolve car exhaust pollution. The spray is based on titanium oxide, a photocatalyst that absorbs and disperses light and heat. Pavement Technology claims that one mile of sprayed pavement has the same air quality benefits as planting 20 acres of trees. The spray is now being tested in several municipalities in the US.

Detectives Recover 30 Work Vans and Pickup Trucks as a result of “Operation Cat Burglar” Multi-County Auto-Theft Investigation

East Orange NJ, the New Jersey State Police and Division of Criminal Justice have charged six suspects who were allegedly stealing work vans and pickup trucks in northern New Jersey and dismantling them to sell their catalytic converters and other parts for profit. During the month-long investigation dubbed “Operation Cat Burglar,” detectives linked the suspects to more than 30 stolen vehicles, stolen license plates, vehicle titles, and more than $20,000 worth of stolen tools and equipment.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
