“Operation Home Alone” Nabs 16 Child Predators Using Social Media to Lure Children for Sex

Ridgewood NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo today announced arrests of 16 alleged child predators in “Operation Home Alone,” a multi-agency undercover operation targeting men who allegedly were using social media in an attempt to lure underage girls and boys for sexual activity.  The defendants will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Park Ridge Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in yesterday’s Oritani Bank robbery

Park Ridge NJ, The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Park Ridge Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in yesterday’s Oritani Bank robbery.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at approximately 12:20 p.m., the male suspect entered the Oritani bank located at 177 Kinderkamack Rd in Park Ridge, NJ and asked to speak with the bank manager. While speaking with the manager, the suspect advised that he was in possession of a bomb and requested that all employees accompany him to the vault.

Shooting in Bogota Leaves One Dead

Bogota NJ, Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo announces the following information:

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Bogota Police Department, and other local agencies are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning, December 12, 2018, in Bogota, NJ.  

At approximately 1:43 a.m., the Bogota Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of shots fired outside Buddy’s Bar, 13 East Fort Lee Road, Bogota, NJ.  Officers from the Bogota, Teaneck, and Ridgefield Park Police Departments responded to the scene, where they found a 28-year-old male on the front lawn of a nearby house, 286 Leonia Avenue, Bogota, suffering from a single gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects fled the scene.  The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released at a later time.

Hackensack NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of LIONEL GUERRERO (DOB: 2/14/1984; single; and unemployed) of 4448 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA on charges of Attempt To Cause Death Or Serious Bodily Injury, Aggravated Assault On A Law Enforcement Officer, and Assault, as well as, Conspiracy To Possess With Intent To Distribute Crystal Methamphetamine and Conspiracy To Distribute Heroin. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Fair Lawn NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrests and charges of SHARESE PEEPLES (DOB: 10/10/1986; single; unemployed) of 18-15 Maple Avenue Apt. 2, Fair Lawn, NJ, on charges of Attempted Murder, Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, Possession Of A Weapon, and Making A False Report To Law Enforcement; and STEVEN MITCHELL (DOB: 11/23/1986; single; employed as bus cleaner) of 18-15 Maple Avenue, Apt. 2, Fair Lawn, NJ, on a charge of Making A False Report To Law Enforcement. ISAIAH T. LEE (DOB: 02/19/83; single; self-employed in construction) of 57 Edgar Street, 2nd Floor, East Orange, NJ, is currently a fugitive and a warrant has been issued on a charge of Making A False Report To Law Enforcement. The arrests are the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Officer in Charge Chief Kevin Pell, and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.

Elmwood Park NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is *** Seeking information about identity of individual struck by vehicle in Elmwood Park. ***
On October 19th at approximately 10:00 pm Elmwood park Police responded to the intersection of Broadway and Orange Avenue on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found the victim who is still unidentified, had been struck by a 2014 Ford Explorer that was traveling east bound on Broadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

In July 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit received complaints against Bruce FIXELLE and capital investment companies with which he was associated, Genesis Advisory Services Corp. and Aurora Capital Management, LLC, from two investors who believed that they had been defrauded.

Hackensack NJ,  Sheriff Saudino’s resignation is an important first step in repairing the relationship between the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the diverse communities it serves.

Under state law, the Governor has the power to fill the vacancy left by the Sheriff’s resignation. That appointment will be subject to the advice and consent of the state senate. In the interim, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office will oversee day-to-day management of the Sheriff’s Office, with Chief Kevin Pell serving as the officer-in-charge of the department’s operations.
