Oakland NJ, Oakland Police, Oakland Fire Department, Oakland EMS, and Franklin Lakes EMS responded to aid the victims of a Wednesday afternoon, 10/17, rollover crash in front of 392 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland. A total of four (4) vehicles were involved in the collision, including a marked Oakland police SUV, which appeared to have been parked when it was hit. Two (2) victims were transported by ambulance to Chilton Medical Center, three (3) other victims refused medical aid, Multiple tow trucks were required to remove wreckage from the scene.

Garfield NJ, after the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department are requested information from the public regarding a hit and run collision that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian.
Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office report an arrest has been made in the fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Garfield on Monday night. Thanks to all in the news media and those on social media for spreading the word.
Newark NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of YOURGHI TURKMANY (DOB: 5/15/98; single; and unemployed) of 31 Kent Street, Apt. 1, Newark, NJ. The arrest is the result of a month-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Milford, Washington Township, Oradell, Ridgewood, Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Rutherford, Montvale, Piscataway, Newark, and Middlesex Borough Police Departments.
Trenton NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and the Division of Consumer Affairs today announced that 29 unlicensed movers have been issued Notices of Violation (“NOVs”) as a result of “Operation Mother’s Attic, a State-led undercover sting targeting public movers suspected of operating without licenses. Each unlicensed mover was also assessed a $2,500 civil penalty
The sting operation occurred over the course of four days in April 2018. Investigators from the Division’s Office of Consumer Protection (“OCP”) posed as individuals planning to move from an upscale neighborhood in Montville. The investigators found various unlicensed moving companies advertising online and hired them for their “move.” The movers drove to Montville, expecting to find a luxury home full of items to load, and were instead met by a team of OCP investigators, who issued them NOVs for operating without licenses.

Ridgewood NJ, A North Pleasant Avenue resident contacted the Ridgewood Police Department on July 24th to report a road rage incident which began in Franklin Lakes, N.J. then continued through Wyckoff and Midland Park before ending in Ridgewood. The victim reported the incident as she entered into the Village of Ridgewood and reported she was being harassed by an unknown person operating grey colored Toyota Pickup. Patrol units responded to the victim’s location on Franklin Avenue, however the unidentified person driving the Toyota Pickup had turned off Franklin Avenue prior to patrol’s interaction with the caller. Patrol units checked the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the caller’s description.
Franklin Lakes NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced that DANIELLE WEITZ (DOB: 08/23/1952; married; unemployed) of 512 Haddon Place, Franklin Lakes, NJ was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. The charges are the result of an investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Chief Carmine Pezzuti.
On May 31, 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Animal Cruelty Task Force (“B.C.A.C.T.F.”) received information that a home at 512 Haddon Place in Franklin Lakes was being operated as a dog kennel. On June 5, 2018, as a result of an investigation by the B.C.A.C.T.F. and the Franklin Lakes Police Department, a search warrant was executed at 512 Haddon Place, and 14 dogs, in varying states of health and living in conditions unacceptable for the well-being of the animals, were removed from the home. Members of the borough’s Animal Control Unit and a veterinarian were present to ensure safe handling and medical assessment of the dogs as they were removed.
On June 6, 2018, Danielle WEITZ was served with 14 counts of Failure As The Owner Or As A Person Otherwise Charged With The Care Of A Living Animal Or Creature To Provide The Living Animal Or Creature With Necessary Care, N.J.S.A. 4:22-17A(4), a Disorderly Persons offense. WEITZ is scheduled for a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Calo states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Franklin Lakes Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.

Ridgewood NJ, Lawmakers representing New Jersey’s 40th legislative district announced nearly $4.5 million to fund 15 transportation projects in each of the towns they represent.
$4.5 million in TTF funding will support 15 road and bridge projects (SenateNJ.com)“Our local municipalities will receive over $4 million from the TTF to improve critical road and bridge projects,” said Sen. Kristin Corrado (R-40). “Funding for safe and reliable transportation will be an investment in our economy.”
Bergen County will receive more than $1.3 million to fund seven projects, including improvements to the West Allendale Avenue Streetscape in downtown Allendale Borough and roads near schools and parks in Franklin Lakes and Ho-Ho-Kus.
Passaic County will receive $2,185,000 for five projects, including Webster Drive in Wayne Township.
Two projects in Morris County will be funded with more than $547,000, including improvements to Hillview Road in Pequannock Township, a commercial area. A $402,000 grant was awarded to Essex County for Cedar Grove Township.
“This is welcome news for our region,” said Rooney (R-Bergen). “Fixing roads in residential neighborhoods makes them safer for commuters and families while protecting the value of homes in the area. Road improvements also enhance safety for children who walk to school and enjoy our parks.”
“Commuters, businesses, and families will all reap the benefits of this funding,” said DePhillips (R-Bergen). “Well paved and maintained streets are vital to our local economy. This investment in our infrastructure will pay dividends for years to come.”
Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey school districts got a first look at their state aid figures for the coming school year on Thursday, jut two days after Gov. Phil Murphy unveiled his tax gouging $37.4 billion spending plan.
Every singe school district in Bergen county will get extra aid under the plan, which boosts aid to schools state wide by $283 million, up 3.5 percent from a year earlier.
The rate of increase ranged significantly in districts, with Haworth, Paramus, Franklin Lakes getting boosts larger than 15 percent. Others, like, Leonia and Englewood got increases less than 2 percent.
In the Murphy Budget Ridgewood would get an increase of $2,586,693 a 5.4% increase , Ho-Ho-Kus $556,782 or a 7.9% increase , Midland Park $742,564 a huge 14.7% increase ,Glen Rock $1,335,305 an 11.6% and Paramus $2,542,3741 or an even larger 15.3% increase .
