Alert: No National Shutdown – This is False Information.

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police have issued the following statement ,”There is a purposeful internet misrepresentation campaign in effect claiming an imminent national shutdown evoking the “Stafford Act.”

In fact, the Stafford Act, a law that allows the federal government to unlock resources directly to states has already been activated. Trump declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency on Friday, using authority granted by the law, which passed in 1988 and has been updated twice since. The Stafford Act does not have a provision that would allow the federal government to declare a mandatory quarantine.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood restaurant owner Lisa Mayisouglu of Lisa’s Mediterranean Cuisine wanted to help those volunteers on the front line, who are responding to the emergency medical calls during the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Thinking of how she could help, Lisa reached out to Ridgewood Emergency Services Volunteers and offered to prepare dinner for the volunteer EMS crews. “I have the food; our restaurant can only provide take out service now. So I decided to give back and provide a healthy meal for the Volunteers who are away from their families and risking exposure to the virus despite all the precautions that they take”.

Lisa, who has owned her restaurant for 15 years in the Village is taking her efforts even further by organizing other restaurants in the Village to follow suit. Ridgewood Emergency Services Public Information Officer Bob Krane stated “that the Volunteers really appreciate Lisa’s concern and thoughtfulness. A big thank you to Lisa. These are difficult times for all. Just as Lisa is supporting the Volunteers, all residents need to support the local restaurants by ordering take out service.”

Ridgewood NJ, This is Mayor Ramon Hache with a very important message. We have just been informed of the third confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ridgewood.  The latest confirmed case is a 20 year old female. While the confirmation of additional cases is of great concern, I want to urge everyone to please remain calm. This is the time to work together to contain and prevent the spread of the virus. I urge you to please continue to exercise appropriate social distancing measures. It is the most effective thing we can do to avoid being infected or infecting others.
