First, thank you for welcoming me back as Ridgewood’s Mayor! I am honored, once again, to serve as Mayor of our beautiful Village and I am grateful for your continued support!
Daily Covid-19 updates have been informative and helpful in navigating us through the coronavirus pandemic. Information undoubtedly highlights the importance of following health and safety protocols including proper social distancing along with the use of PPE. The Impact of COVID-19 on Fitness Studios & Gyms

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, economies all over the world are going through a great recession. Cities and states have been placed under lockdown with people being encouraged to stay at home to contain the virus. As a result, many businesses have been affected with some eventually closing down.

Fitness studios and gyms are some of the many businesses that have temporarily suspended their operations. Governments have advised people against visiting social places, prompting the temporary closure of gyms. Most gyms have complied in efforts to keep their customers safe from the COVID-19 virus.

Trenton NJ,People in New Jersey will now be required to wear masks outside in public when social distancing isn’t possible to help prevent the coronavirus from spreading, Gov. Phil Murphy said Wednesday morning. Murphy said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he is signing an executive order today mandating the practice.

Brooks Brothers Flirts with Bankruptcy

Hackensack NJ,traditional retailer Brooks Brothers is nearing a bankruptcy filing that could take place as early as this week, sparking a possible bidding war for the troubled company.

Private equity firm Solitaire Partners is in talks with the haberdasher to make a bid once a possible Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing has been made, according to people close to the matter. These people say Brooks Brothers has signaled to potential bidders it is likely to file for bankruptcy in the coming days.

SAN DIEGO (KUSI), As coronavirus cases continue to increase across the United States, health officials and Democrat politicians seem to be using that statistic to fear monger and justify closure orders.

Dr. Scott Atlas of the Hoover Institute, discussed why we don’t need to be scared of the increase spread of coronavirus on Good Morning San Diego with KUSI’s Paul Rudy.

Atlas said that he has done more than a superficial analysis of the numbers, and after analyzing them, he doesn’t get scared.

Rutgers University : Most classes to be delivered remotely with limited in-person instruction

New Brunswick NJ, The fall semester at Rutgers University will combine a majority of remotely delivered courses with a limited number of in-person classes, President Jonathan Holloway said today.

The decision was not made easily or hastily, Holloway said, but was made due to the uncertainty regarding the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase in cases in other areas of the country and in consultation with public health experts and university leaders.

Englewood NJ, At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, basketball trainer Ryan Ang of Ang1 Trainings  took his basketball training skills online. He is the youngest basketball trainer in New Jersey and 

possibly the whole country. Ryan Ang has been featured on USA Today, People Magazine,  People TV, ABC7 EyeWitness News New York, Northjersey.com and many more media 

platforms. He was not featured on those media platforms because he is the youngest basketball  trainer, but was featured because of his innovative idea of online live basketball training 

sessions.

Lucky Brand Dungarees LLC, which has about 200 Lucky Brand stores in North America and sells its products in department stores, announced it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Friday with plans to sell the equity-backed business to the SPARC Group, operator of Aéropostale and Nautica.

Sears to Close Hackensack Location

Sears has recently initiated “Store Closing Sales” in 20 of its remaining locations and that number continues to grow by the week. and day.  Liquidation sales have begun with the 88 year old Hackensack store in line for shut down.

COVID19 Will Change Education Forever

Ridgewood NJ, the coronavirus pandemic and now social unrest  has changed the way students will learn. Colleges have closed their campuses , classes have  moved online. The age range for effective online or remote learning has been greatly expanded, some suggesting even as young as middle school would benefit from a more focused remote learning environment especially given the irrationality of some of the social unrest.  Some of these changes will be temporary, but others may be permanent.
