Ridgewood NJ, the Graydon Pool management and Parks & Recreation Department would like to let you know that the Maple Avenue side of the pool is open for you to sit to help with social distancing.

“No resident uses all of the features of this town. Some residents don’t even use the school system. Some use the parks, some don’t. Some play tennis, some don’t. Some use the communal garden, some don’t. Some go to concerts at the band shell, some don’t. For those who enjoy using Graydon, it’s a wonderful thing that the VC went ahead and opened it up this year. It’s kind of shocking to me that there was even a dispute about it. Nancy Bigos and Heather Mayländer pushed back so hard against this that it was shocking. Spoke to me of complete abject laziness on their part.”

Ridgewood NJ, In an attempt to safely operate the Graydon Pool recreational swimming facility to the public during this COVID 19 health crisis, many changes must occur. The facility will operate and look differently than it has in the past as we continue to adhere to social distancing safeguards and the CDC direct specifications.
Ridgewood NJ, After all the postings about Graydon we went back and watched the previous Council meeting. It was completely obvious that the parks director Bigos and the Village Manager Heather Mailander. do not want the pool to open. All their remarks were completely negative. Excuse me, but isn’t running the pool a major part of the job of the Ms. Bigos? She is already free from the summer camp program, and now she wants to kill the pool.
Ridgewood NJ, The Village Council of the Village of Ridgewood would like your input about opening Graydon Pool this summer. That petition, which started on May 17, has since gone viral tracking toward 13,000 signatures. Hundreds of competitive swimmers are looking forward to getting back in the pools to train, and serious competitors are ready to train responsibly. Here is the link to the petition
Ridgewood NJ, Health experts say people are significantly less likely to get coronavirus while outside, a fact that could add momentum to calls to reopen beaches and parks closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of course people should continue to avoid crowds and seek a six-foot distance from other people to stay away from the virus.
Ridgewood NJ, The opening of Graydon Pool and the Ridgewood Summer Day Camp Program will NOT happen this year. Just announced during tonight’s Village Council Meeting. UPDATE: The Summer Day Camp Program definitely won’t happen. Village Council members have requested a plan be developed to open Graydon at some point during the summer in the event Governor Murphy’s Executive Order that closed public swimming pools is lifted. As of now, Graydon can’t open because of an Executive Order banning same. Opening Graydon as a passive recreation area is also being considered, as is eliminating membership/daily pass fees for Summer Season 2020.
