Close Call: Sedan Jumps Sidewalk, Smashes Into Garden Center Retaining Wall

MIDLAND PARK, NJ — A dramatic afternoon crash on Goffle Road gave local shoppers and business owners a massive scare on Thursday, July 16, 2026. According to emergency responders, a black Nissan Altima four-door sedan was traveling southbound on Goffle Road when the driver suddenly lost control. The vehicle jumped the curb, crossed entirely over the pedestrian sidewalk, and slammed directly into a local garden center’s stone retaining wall.

Midland Park NJ, Midland Park FD’s ladder truck was dispatched to rescue a man from the roof of a building located at 27 Faner Road, Midland Park on the morning of Monday, 11/28. The individual was uninjured; he had been on the roof installing a satellite dish and was unable to safely descend via the ladder he’d climbed up on. Midland Park PD and Wyckoff PD units assisted with traffic control during the rescue process.

Two Arrested after Abandoning Vehicle in the Middle of a Busy Intersection in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, A telephone call from a citizen to Ridgewood PD regarding two (2) adult males who were sitting on a curb smoking cigarettes after abandoning their vehicle in the middle of a busy intersection resulted in police making two (2) arrests, impounding a vehicle, and calling upon the services of Midland Park PD and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division to assist in effecting the arrests and conducting the subsequent investigation. The incident began at 1824 hours at the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Dayton Street. No information was available at the scene as to the nature of charges associated with the arrests, however police officers were observed administering a field sobriety test to the individual suspected to be the vehicle’s driver.
