Ridgewood NJ,  New Jersey Transit Police officers were happy to reunite a fiancé with her stolen engagement ring. She had been traveling on the Hudson Bergen Light Rail days prior when her ring was stolen. At that time, she reached out to NJTPD and officers Markowitz and Sullivan responded to assist. The officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed a suspect take the ring and flee from the area. ⁣

Clifton NJ, on Tuesday February 22nd, New Jersey Transit Police Officers were investigating the theft of catalytic converters and license plates that recently occurred at Clifton Station. The investigation led officers to Paterson NJ and the area around Paterson Train Station. There, officers observed a stolen vehicle with the stolen license plates affixed.

Armed man spotted chasing another, disarmed and apprehended by NJ Transit Police

Newark NJ, On Monday 8/2/21, New Jersey Transit Police Officers Penalva and Ydo were on a patrol detail at Newark Penn Station. The officers observed a man enter the station while brandishing a knife and chasing another man. The officers quickly acted to disarm and ultimately apprehend the aggressor. Their immediate response prevented any injury and brought a safe resolution to a dangerously unfolding incident.

Newark NJ, During a recent patrol, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Singleton received a report of a missing mother. Her last known destination was Newark Penn Station. There, she was intended to travel via Amtrak. Equipped with her description, Officer Singleton exhausted every resource to find her. Attempts to reach her via cell phone and at all prior locations proved negative. He found that her Amtrak ticket was purchased but was never used.⁣

Secaucus NJ,  on Tuesday, 3/16/21, New Jersey Transit Police Officers Dioguardi, Romano, and Lieutenant Sperlazza were on patrol at Secaucus Junction Station. The officers responded to a report of a male child traveling alone on train 1122. They found that the child, who is autistic, would not communicate with the train crew.⁣⁣

Newark NJ, on Sunday, 3/14/21, New Jersey Transit Police Officers Martinez, Pena-Perez, Ydo, and Mastrofilipo were on patrol at Newark Penn Station. The officers observed a man lying prone inside a restroom stall. Finding the man unconscious, they forced open the stall and removed him for treatment. They discovered that the man was near death. He was suffering an asphyxiation episode and exhibited signs of an impending overdose.⁣⁣

NJ Transit Police Rescue Dog Struck by Newark Light Rail

Newark NJ, on Friday an urgent rescue mission unfolded for an injured canine. New Jersey Transit Police officers responded to reports that a dog got onto the Newark Light Rail tracks at Park Ave and was struck and pinned under the light rail vehicle. Responding Patrol, K9, and ESU officers found an injured dog under the train. Together, the officers took great care to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the dog and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to further care. Now this pup has promising potential for a full recovery and a good reminder to keep off the tracks.⁣

NEWARK NJ, a keen-eyed New Jersey Transit Police Officer on patrol in Newark Penn Station this week spotted and arrested a suspect wanted for a home invasion robbery and attempted murder of a 17-year-old girl in Montclair. New Jersey Transit Police Officer Bryan Richards recognized the suspect walking in Newark Penn Station on Monday November 9th after a bulletin was issued by Montclair police and placed him under arrest.
