Fair Lawn NJ, an two “adult male” pedestrians miraculously escaped injury late Friday afternoon, 06/16, when he was struck by a Suffern bound NJ Transit passenger train as he attempted to cross the train tracks at Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn when the train was approaching. Fair Lawn Police and NJ Transit Police officers responded to the incident. The pedestrian refused to be evaluated by EMS personnel. Traffic on Fair Lawn Avenue was halted during the investigation process. Passengers on board the train at the time of the strike were discharged; some got into waiting automobiles, others boarded the next westbound train. No word as to whether NJ Transit Police issued the pedestrian a summons.

Edison NJ, yesterday Northeast Corridor Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Trenton and Penn Station New York due to fire department activity near Edison. (Brush fire). NJ Transit Police Officers are on scene and assisting.

Glen Rock NJ, at approximately 545 pm Wednesday, the height of rush hour the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a smoke condition on a NJ Transit train at the Borough Hall Train Station. Firefighters assisted in extinguishing a small fire in the wheel housing of one of the train cars. Also on scene was Glen Rock Police , NJ Transit Police and NJ Transit rail operations.

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, a driver unfamiliar with streets leading to and from the Ho-Ho-Kus train station area, made a wrong turn early Tuesday evening, 12/20, and wound up stuck on a pair of active NJ Transit railroad tracks. A towing company employee and NJ Transit Police ESU officers worked in unison to free the struck 4-door sedan, and remove it from the tracks. No injuries were reported in the incident, which delayed most trains scheduled to pass through the Ho-Ho-Kus station by over one (1) hour. Ho-Ho-Kus Police officers were also dispatched to the incident.

Westwood NJ, a NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line passenger train headed to Spring Valley, struck and killed a pedestrian at the Jefferson Avenue grade crossing, Westwood on Monday morning, 09/12. No injuries were reported by the train crew or passengers on board. The victim was said to have been an elderly woman who was using a wheeled walker as she entered the crossing. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a hospital based paramedic team. Westwood Police, NJ Transit Police, and the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the tragic incident.

Point Pleasant NJ, according to NJ Transit a teen died after being struck by a NJ Transit train in Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday afternoon. NJ Transit says a train that departed Long Branch shortly after 3:45 p.m. that was bound for Bay Head struck the child at the Forman Avenue crossing.

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, an individual who was allegedly standing on an NJ Transit railroad track and refusing to move, causing at least one (1) passenger train to re-route, was taken into custody by Ho-Ho-Kus Police near the Brookside Avenue railroad crossing on Wednesday afternoon, 07/13. Waldwick Police assisted with the apprehension. Charges, other than defiant trespass, were pending the arrival of NJ Transit Police officers.
