Ridgewood NJ, a new bill requires school districts to include instruction on diversity and inclusion. Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi, “While I have sponsored and voted in favor of many pieces of legislation over the years to ensure equality for all, including all races, religions, genders and members of the LGBTQ+ community, today I will be voting no on a bill A-4454. This bill requires school districts to include instruction on diversity and inclusion commencing this year as part of implementation of New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Ridgewood NJ, the realty of school budgeting is that many prices of the budget puzzle are not covered by the 2% cap.

False Claim #3 (continued): “If our Board of Education develops a budget that calls for a school tax increase greater than 2%, a public vote is required on that budget.”

TRUTH: To be clear, if our local elections are moved to November, there is no public vote on the school budget. The so-called 2% cap is only on a portion of the school budget There are high priced expenses, like health insurance cost increases, that are exempt from that 2%. In truth, the budget could double, triple, or more over that 2% cap without ever triggering a vote. Case in point, 2018. Our Board of Education elections were in November that year, so there was no budget vote despite a 3.62% increase. That extra 1.62% above the so-called 2% cap represented $1.5 million charged to the taxpayers for the 2018-2019 school year. And once in place, that extra $1.5 million is charged each and every year going forward, compounded by each year’s tax increase. That budget proposal was very vocally disapproved by residents and carried by the affirmative votes of only 3 out of 5 board members.

Reader says, Students should always come first

RHS 2017

“Covid-19 is NOT a lethal virus, that is a fact. Lethal viruses do not spread, as they kill their victim, which stops the spread. People are not dying from covid19, they are dying from the one or more, known or unknown underlying diseases they have. It is a fact that children are not dying from covid19. It is okay for them to get the virus. They will not melt. If teachers are afraid to get the virus, for a valid or invalid reason, then they should be given these options:. Resign, retire early, take a leave of absence, go on unemployment or wear a hazmat suit. The teachers can easily be temporarily replaced by young, unemployed certified teacher, which are many, or college graduates. Why do so many teachers make everything about them, rather than about the children? The only reason teachers have their job is because of
the students. Students should always come first. Students need to be in school in person. Virtual school is not the same and is not what our taxes pay for. Lastly, how are young children supposed to do virtual learning at home, when both parents have to go out to work? Most parents are NOT teachers, who have the luxury of staying home just because they are in a strong union, that controls the politrickers. Many teachers are not living in the real world and need to be made to realize that the world does NOT revolve around them.”

Senior says I need a tax Freeze

philip

“I would like to confront gov Murphy with the fact he stole my freeze money for the very high taxes I pay in NJ. I have been paying these taxes since 1966. I am now a senior who is entitled to a freeze in my taxes which is sent to me in July This June gov Murphy just made one announcement that there would be no freeze money. I am 86 years old and I am retired. I need that freeze money desperately especially since the taxes in this state are higher than most states in the Union. Is there no one in our government to help us get back our freeze????”

Reader says , “Should Corona last for the long run, the intelligentsia and NJEA unions will be toast”

rhs 2020

“residents here in Ridgewood know more about what happens than the eggheads at the BOE & REA who theorize on how to control thoughts as they trade bon mots at their cocktail parties. Should corona last for the long run, the intelligentsia and NJEA unions will be toast as they cling to their days gone by like the Luddites they are. I pity the truly great teachers in the district who have been lumped into the mix with the Marxists.”
