Ridgewood NJ, a horrific motor vehicle crash with a rollover and an entrapment occurred in a busy intersection right next to a Trevell elementary school in Ridgewood just 15-20 minutes prior to the school’s afternoon student dismissal on Wednesday, 12/20. A maroon colored Subaru apparently T-Boned a while colored Nissan Rogue at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and Fairfield Avenue, causing the Nissan to roll over on its roof, trapping the driver inside. Ridgewood firefighters quickly extricated the driver, who was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non life threatening injuries. No other crash related injuries were reported. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police patrol officers and a patrol supervisor also responded to the incident and are investigating the collision.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood Emergency Services, and Ridgewood OEM personnel were all kept very busy handling flooding related requests for service on Monday, 12/18. One (1) such request came from the owner of a black colored SUV whose vehicle began floating out of her driveway, which is immediately adjacent to the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook. A small excavator parked in the same area was also affected. Ridgewood firefighters secured both vehicles to nearby tree trunks. As of 1100 hours on Monday, no storm related injuries had been reported.

Ridgewood NJ, during the Village council meeting on December 13th 2023 Ridgewood Police Chief Forest Lyons Ridgewood Fire Chief John Judge and Central Dispatch Director Tom Pomroy handed out awards for a CPR save and a Child Birth.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters quickly knocked down an early Monday afternoon, 12/11, structure fire that reportedly originated in the kitchen of a single family home on Liberty Street, Ridgewood. No injuries were reported in the blaze; however, there was an unconfirmed report of a missing dog. Ridgewood Police, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident along with mutual aid fire and EMS units from several nearby communities.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Department hosted Scout Pack 35. The scouts experienced the excitement of a live call coming in and received lessons in first aid.
Glen Rock NJ,an early Monday afternoon, 11/20, fire, ignited when a Glen Rock homeowner was working with tools in a second floor bedroom, was extinguished prior to the arrival of firefighters from Ridgewood, Glen Rock, and Hawthorne. The homeowner sustained minor burns to his hand and self-transported to The Valley Hospital for treatment. Fire chiefs from Fair Lawn also responded to the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Department EMTs transported one (1) victim to The Valley Hospital by ambulance following an early Thursday evening, 11/09, motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of North Monroe Street, Ridgewood. The crash occurred when a Mazda SUV traveling on North Monroe Street struck Honda SUV that was being backed out of a driveway. A flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged Mazda from the scene. The rear ended Honda was driven back into its own driveway. Ridgewood Police investigated the crash.

Ridgewood NJ, Bringing new life into the world is a different kind of call for us. A couple of weeks ago Ridgewood Firefighters helped deliver a beautiful baby and the firefighters had the joy of reuniting with the little one and their family. Proud to be part of these unforgettable moments. The couple were even kind enough to bring the firefighters dinner which was unexpected, and very much appreciated!
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police called for assistance from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification in the investigation of a very serious Monday afternoon, 10/30, pedestrian vs. vehicle collision on North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM near the Ridgewood Public Library. A Ridgewood Fire Department ambulance rushed the victim to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment of grave injuries. Paramedics accompanied the ambulance. North Maple Avenue in the vicinity of the crash site was closed in both directions for an extended period. The vehicle and driver involved in the collision remained on the scene.

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark the Ridgewood Fire Department, Fire Prevention Bureau hosted an educational lunch and learn regarding our fire alarm pull system in the Village and in our schools.
Ridgewood NJ, an unoccupied Toyota Yaris rolled away from its parking spot in downtown Ridgewood early Monday afternoon, 10/09, and struck another vehicle before slamming into a busy outdoor dining area at the Raymond’s Restaurant. Thankfully, no one was injured in the freak accident, and damage was limited to a table, some chairs, and an outdoor flower box. Neither the Yaris nor the vehicle it struck were badly damaged; both were driven from the scene. Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with the mishap. Ridgewood Fire Department and a paramedic team responded to the incident as a precaution. Two (2) restaurant patrons were evaluated by EMTs; both refused medical attention.
