Ridsgewood NJ, at approximately 2pm Tuesday April 9th an older model four-door sedan driven by an adult male mounted a sidewalk near the Walgrees on East Ridgewood Avenue .
Paramus NJ, a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically and speeding in Paramus crashed at the intersection of Route 17 northbound and Race Track Road, Ho-Ho-Kus early Monday afternoon, 04/08. The vehicle’s driver was handcuffed by Paramus Police officers and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Ridgewood Fire Department ambulance. Two (2) passengers in the vehicle were initially detained by Paramus Police, but later released after being evaluated by EMTs. Police at the scene would not comment on the nature of their investigation, nor why the driver was handcuffed. Ridgewood Police and Ho-Ho-Kus Police also responded to the incident along with additional ambulances from Paramus and Ho-Ho-Kus. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked BMW SUV from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel responded to mitigate a reported hazardous condition at 39 East Ridgewood Avenue on Thursday morning, 04/04. Aluminum flashing from the roof of a commercial structure had torn loose during overnight winds. One (1) piece of the flashing had fallen to the sidewalk below, and another was still suspended overhanging the sidewalk. Ridgewood firefighters used a ground ladder to access the roof and secure the suspended piece of flashing. The fallen piece was removed from the scene by a member of the Village’s Sanitation Division. No injuries were reported. Ridgewood Police officers provided pedestrian and traffic control while firefighters worked.

Ridgewood NJ, during Saturdays Nor-ester a tree and utility pole went down at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gardner Road. Residents in the area were without power. PSE&G and the Ridgewood Police and Fire Department responded . No injuries reported.

Ridgewood NJ, theRidgewood Crew Team hosted its annual Row-a-Thon this past Saturday, witnessing an exhilarating race between local police and firefighters, showcasing community spirit and athletic prowess.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters used a truck mounted winch to assist in the Saturday morning, 03/16, rescue of an adult male who broke an ankle while hiking in the Irene Habernickel Family Park. The individual was conscious and alert when firefighters arrived on scene, but stranded on a trail located at the bottom of a steep incline. After being extricated from the trail, the victim was loaded into a waiting ambulance and transported to The Valley Hospital. No firefighters were injured during the rescue operation. Ridgewood Police also responded to the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded a $75,000 grant to help ensure our fire fighters have proper fire protection, cleaning and sanitization equipment through the American Rescue Plan. This is the highest award municipalities received. The Ridgewood Fire Department has made securing grant funding a priority, which helps off set costs to our taxpayers.

Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday, Gary Weitzen, the Executive Director of POAC Autism Services gave his first of three training sessions to members of the Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Departments. Gary gives specific training to first responders who deal with residents in our community who are on the Autism Spectrum.
Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood swore in two new Firefighter recruits, both of whom will transfer from other Village departments to join the Ridgewood Fire Department. The two recruits are Thomas Malone and Tyler Biagi who are to begin their Fire academy training.
Twp. of Washington NJ, AT&T experienced a widespread network outage on Thursday morning, affecting many customers across the United States. Users were unable to make calls, send texts, or access the internet. By late morning, AT&T reported that most of its network had been restored.
Ridgewood NJ, a Friday afternoon, 02/02, two (2) vehicle collision in the 300 block of Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood heavily damaged a Toyota Camry and resulted in the arrest of its driver for suspected DUI following the administration of a field sobriety test. A Jeep Cherokee was the other vehicle involved; it sustained moderate damage when the Camry slammed into its rear end. A flatbed tow truck removed the Toyota from the scene. The Jeep was driven away on its own power. Ridgewood Police officers transported the DUI suspect to Ridgewood Police headquarters for processing. Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill.
