Jersey City NJ, earlier this week, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) held a celebration honoring 18 bright, young New Jerseyans, who he nominated and were all accepted this year into the four U.S. service academies. The nominees were joined by their family, friends, and the academy screeners who recommended them for nominations. The ceremony took place in the senator’s Jersey City office.
Ridgewood NJ, the artwork of Ramsey resident Andrea Williams and her grandson, Daniel Weispfenning of Ridgewood, is on display at The Gallery at West Side Presbyterian Church for the month of June. The exhibit features Willliams’ realistic oil paintings and Weispfenning’s creative photography.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School Alumni Association Celebrates the Class of 2022 . At sunrise , a group of RHS Alumni Association (RHSAA) Trustees, RHS Principal, Jeff Nyhuis, RHS Assistant Principal, Basil Pizzuto, RHS 12th Grade Advisor, Meg Schaefer, RPS Public Information Officer, Charlene Labenda, Bergen County Commissioner, Ramon Hache (RHS ’91), PG ‘22 Chairs and Committee Chairs, RHS Lacrosse parents, friends and family members all came together to hang 470 maroon and white senior banners. These banners were hung throughout our beautiful Village to highlight, to recognize and to celebrate each member of the RHS Class of 2022.
Ridgewood NJ, Louis Edward Peay, affectionately known as “Eddie”, departed this life peacefully on April 30, 2022. Eddie was born on October 25, 1936, in Hackensack, NJ to the late Carlos Sr. and Ernestine Peay.
Ridgewood NJ, US News and World Report rolled out its latest school ranking The U.S. News rankings include data on nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to traditional high schools, the rankings encompass charter; magnet; and science, technology, engineering and math-focused schools. This is how Ridgewood High School stacks up against thousands around the country.
Ridgewood NJ, at Monday ‘s Ridgewood Board of Education meeting Dr. Gorman thanked the maintenance and grounds crews who facilitated getting the fields back in shape. The Ridgewood High School stadium field was reopened on Sunday following the completion of the most recent cleanup, and Stevens field is expected to be operational by the end of this week.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood High School Winter Guard had another great showing of their show ‘Not from Concentrate’ at the MAIN Guards competition at Hillsborough High School .
RHS Winter Guard took 3rd place out of 10 guards with 1 point separating the top 3 guards. 1 more show to go , next the championships on April 23 at PPL Center Arena in Allentown, PA.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police Department were summoned to Ridgewood High School late Friday morning when a bomb threat at Ridgewood high school phoned into central dispatch. Ridgewood police assisted by numerous agencies searched the interior and exterior of the school and confirmed this was a false threat. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau assisted by the Bergen county prosecutors office is investigating the call. There is currently no threat to the students.
Ridgewood NJ, every generation defines it self with music , established in 2017 with generous support from the Ridgewood Education Foundation, the RHS Recording studio is staffed and managed by the RHS Music Production Club. The studio is located in room 145 (near the band room on the first floor) of Ridgewood High School. The RHS Recording Studio is a fully equipped recording studio offering a recording environment for bands and groups looking to record a demo, mixtape, single or an album.
Ridgewood NJ, the Applied Engineering Club continues to grow in popularity at Ridgewood High School with membership climbing to 111 students in the club’s third year. Seven RHS teams have submitted video entries to the 2022 New Jersey STEAM Tank Challenge. Created and sponsored by the New Jersey School Boards Association, this competition gives students the opportunity to apply STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) to real-world problems and offer innovative, equitable, and sustainable solutions. Club advisors Dr. Labowsky and Mr. Wohner are extremely proud of the creativity and commitment of the teams and look forward to the next rounds of the competition.
Ridgewood NJ, through the Duffield STEAM Initiative, the Epilog Fusion Laser machine was recently installed in the RHS Innovation and Makerspace Lab. This machine has a high-speed laser, as well as a large cutting area (24″x24″x10″), enabling students to create larger projects or work on multiple smaller projects at one time. The camera registration system gives users a real-time image of the engraving table so projects can be quickly and accurately positioned. Another great feature is the LED touch display which makes the laser easier to use and operate. And, this new laser can engrave and cut a variety of materials including wood, acrylic, fabric, cork, rubber, slate, glass, and more! The Epilog Fusion Laser will expand the fabrication capabilities of our facilities and programs. Stay tuned for more news from the Duffield STEAM Initiative.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School , Head Girls Soccer Coach (and RHS PE teacher) Peter Kay was named New Jersey State Coach of the Year and North 1 Region Coach of the Year.
Sophomore Isabella Winn earned All American Regional Honor, top 20 player in NJ, and top 20 player in Group 4 North 1 .
Ridgewood NJ, Mondays night Ridgewood Board of Education meeting saw a musical performance by the Ridgewood High School Maroon Men . The RHS Maroon Men performed a selection of songs a capella style. A cappella music is a performance by a singer or a singing group without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Traffic Safety Bureau has had multiple incidents where we have made motor vehicle stops for unsafe driving and have found High School students without a license and in possession of only a permit. These students have been driving to and from school as well as driving around after school, without being accompanied by an Adult Supervising Driver, as required by law. After having conversations with the student drivers, as well as parents in the community and the school, we have found that this is considered an acceptable practice by some parents and students. We cannot stress enough how unsafe and illegal this is. We see an excessive amount of dangerous and risky driving associated with unlicensed drivers. We would like to take this opportunity to inform both the parents and the children the consequences of these actions.
