Ridgewood NJ, The Hudson Street parking lot closed on 8/19/2019 and will be closed for the duration of the construction of the Hudson Street Garage, through June 2020.  During the construction, the sidewalk along the parking lot will be closed.

All pedestrians must use the sidewalk along the church side of Hudson Street.  In addition, the sidewalk on South Broad Street is closed, just after Pearl Restaurant.  For your safety, please use designated crosswalks to cross both Hudson Street and South Broad Street.

Hudson Street itself will be open to vehicles during the beginning of the construction, but will be closed for a period of 6-8 weeks, during the day, in late 2019/early 2020.  When we have definite dates of the closures, you will be notified via E-Notice, and they will also be put onto the Village website.

Ridgewood NJ , according to the Ridgewood police over the last several weeks, there have been many cars which have been left unlocked, and many of them have the key fob in them.  At times, the actors take belongings and money from the cars, and other times, they steal the car.  In fact, four cars were stolen from residents’ driveways, 9/12/19 through 9/14/19, because the key fobs were left in the cars.

The Ridgewood Police Department is asking for help from the public to PLEASE lock your homes and cars and remove any valuables and keys or key fobs.  We do not want any police officers or civilians injured or killed in an attempt to catch the actors. The actors will move to other areas if they are unable to locate unlocked vehicles or find anything of value. In addition, if anyone has any video of the actors or events, please contact the Ridgewood Detective Bureau at 201-251-4536.

Ridgewood NJ, There are new parking regulations in the Village.  At the train station parking lot, twelve parking spaces, which are found immediately on the right as you drive into the parking lot, are reserved for those with Hudson Lot Parking Permits only.  There is signage in place, indicating that these are reserved parking spaces.  Please be aware that only those with Hudson Lot Parking Permits may park in these twelve spaces and those who park there without the Hudson Lot Parking Permit will receive a summons.

On South Broad Street, Prospect Street, and Dayton Street, there are parking spaces which indicate that Interim Parking Permits are required.  These Interim Parking Permit spaces require a permit 24 hours per day/7 days per week and were issued to those displaced from the parking lot behind the Hudson Street parking lot.  Please do not park in these spaces at any time unless you have an Interim Parking Permit or you may receive a summons.

Reader suggests it is time for a Larger Board of Education

cottageplaceBOE_theridgewoodblog

” I would love a candidate who thought he or she was a representative for the public and not a rubber stamp for the administration. People don’t run because it means a campaign and some monetary expenditures. I think we need a 7 member Board. I believe we have the smallest board for a District our size. A larger Board might mean some diversity of opinion and each board member would not be liaison to so many committees . Same laison, same opinions, same outcomes. “

Reader says , “this appointment is only for a few months and then we will all be able to vote for the 3 open positions”

BOE

“We can all watch the same meeting, hear the same conversation and yet come to different conclusions.

I heard a board that wants to make sure the new member has the time to do the job, they don’t want to end up with another new board member that misses meetings and doesn’t have time to serve on committees. The next board member needs to pull their weight.

Despite Calls For More Parking Ridgewood Merchants Continue to take Prime Spots

parking

the satff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, The President of The Ridgewood Guild is Mr. Tony Damiano.  Posturing as an important dignitary in town, claims that businesses which might have come to Ridgewood opted out because there was insufficient parking.

The current council set up a system whereby employees would be directed to park in sections of the Cottage Place and Walnut Street lots, thereby freeing up valuable on-street spots in front of stores and restaurants.  And yet Damiano parks his own vehicle in prime on-street spots every day, as seen in this photograph.

If you think this is a one-off, you are wrong.  We have at least 15 more photos of his car in various NON-EMPLOYEE prime spots on North Broad, near his store.   Damiano was a big promoter of the Hudson Garage (Aronsohn Version) yet refused to work with the new administration when the “3 amigos ” left office .
