Reader says ,”look both ways before entering a crosswalk”

335594690

“The village of Ridgewood should take action immediately and make temporary signs add all crosswalks in the CBD, and around schools to look both ways before entering a crosswalk. Use common sense. But this is the problem , The school system doesn’t teach common sense. And most parents don’t either. “

Reader says ,” this place is gonna look like Hackensack”

Sealfons-rendering

” It’s amazing how so many individuals are so arrogant. How they think they can just walk off the sidewalk into a road without looking how stupid can you be. You got to be the biggest Dummy too do that. That’s for the walkers. For the drivers speed limit should be changed in the CBD. It should be 15 mph. And the damn New Jersey transit buses should not utilize Ridgewood Avenue at all. Let them Use Franklin Ave., Maple Avenue, maybe move the bus station This is not going to work when all these apartment buildings are done we are just too congested. If you think people are getting hit now you just wait and see you have buildings being built right on top of the road on Broad Street Chestnut St., Franklin Avenue and then Maple and Ridgewood Avenue. This place is gonna look like Hackensack. “

Bike Lane Traffic Easing Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, in a letter Ridgewood Police Chief Jacquline Luthcke spelled out issues she had with Saturdays so called “Ride Out” .

The “Ride Out” scheduled for Saturday September 7th is being promoted as a youth lead disruption of traffic and businesses in the Central Business District of Ridgewood.

Luthcke asked parents to discourage this behavior and voiced concerns for the kids as well as residents safety.

The Ridgewood blog is far more curious which parents are behind this and who is encouraging the kids ?

Starbucks Manager Warns of Bike Riding Vandals

Bike Lane Traffic Easing Ridgewood
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, the Glen Rock Starbucks manager Alicia Saige Whalen made this post on the “it takes a Ridgewood Village” Facebook page warning about groups of kids on bikes vandalizing the downtown.

“Attention moms and dads, I’m the glen rock Starbucks manager, but on behalf of the downtown Ridgewood Starbucks I just want to make sure parents are aware. There is a large group of children who plan on riding their bikes through Ridgewood this Saturday around 2pm. Last time they did this, they vandalized the downtown Ridgewood Starbucks and broke a sink in their bathroom. They ride throughout the town causing dangerous traffic conditions and run through stores knocking stuff over, wrecking flower beds, and playing chicken with cars. This causes dangerous situations for themselves and others. They plan to have the police involved to keep your children and the community safe. Just be aware and check in with your kids.”

Reader says , dissent is not allowed ,”in essence BULLY them into submission and silence”

RHS_Sign_theridgewoodblog

” While I agree largely with what was written one has to also see that now society has jumped on the bandwagon. If you don’t agree with someone on a specific subject, rather than seeing that person in a good perspective as having other positive traits, now the accepted response is to gather others to destroy them, their business/livelihood, their families or their children – in essence BULLY them into submission and silence. This happens more often than not. People cannot just express their opposing position and move on for the rest of the day…no, they have to harass those people for the remainder of the day, week, year until the person is ruined. Also, call their place of work and scream for their resignation, even picket and carry signs. – Yes, this how society will make YOU and others capitulate to THEIR point of view and demands. Good grief, people, this is society at large. “
