Ridgewood Police ,Fire and EMS Respond to Construction Fall

Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire department, and Ridgewood EMS rushed to aid an injured worker who had fallen two (2) stories inside of a new home being constructed in the 300 block of North Monroe Street, Ridgewood on Monday morning, 01/21. The victim landed in the home’s basement and was removed by a cadre of firefighters via a window well. He was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital accompanied the patient in the ambulance.

As per Village Code 222-1, the use of power tools for commercial purposes is prohibited on holidays, and MLK Day is specified as one of those holidays.

Ridgewood NJ, The Village’s Parks Department employees are cutting up the trees which they take down into logs, and offering them to Ridgewood residents for free at the Recycling Center.  This saves the Village money, because we don’t have to pay to dispose of the trees which are cut down, and it also provides residents with free firewood for their homes.  You may pick up the logs at the Recycling Center, during their regular business hours.

Ridgewood NJ, All Village of Ridgewood offices will be closed Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be no sanitation or recycling pickup.  The Police Department will be open.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY EVENTS


January 20, 2019 – 4:00 p.m. – Gospel concert at Mount Bethel Baptist Church, 399 South Broad Street, Ridgewood

January 21, 2019 – 10:00 a.m. – MLK Celebration – United Methodist Church, 100 Dayton Street, Ridgewood – The theme is Lift Every Voice, Now, More Than Ever.  The guest preacher will be Rev. Gregory Jerome Jackson and the guest speaker will be Ms. Nancy Giles.

January 21, 2019 – All Village offices will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr.  holiday.  There will be no sanitation or recycling pick up and the Recycling Center will also be closed on this day.  The Police Department, on the second floor of Village Hall, will be open on this holiday.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church : Confession Cancelled on Monday

Ridgewood NJ, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, has  announced that due to severe weather conditions the next few days the Adoration Chapel will close from 6:15 pm Saturday night and will not reopen till Tuesday January 22nd .

Also sinners get a one day reprieve due to the Martin Luther King Holiday as well as the weather situation CONFESSION has been cancelled Monday night .

Overnight Street Parking Banned in Ridgewood Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th

Ridgewood NJ, We are going to experience a snow and ice event this weekend.  The National Weather Service is predicting approximately 2 to 5 inches of snow and sleet.  There is a high chance of roadways freezing tonight and tomorrow night, due to temperatures falling into the single digits, especially on Sunday night, with below zero degree wind chills, which will cause a hard freeze.  Please stay off the roads, so that our crews can do their work. Overnight parking on the street will not be allowed on both Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th.

Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected. * WHERE…Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut and the lower Hudson Valley in New York. * WHEN…From noon Saturday to 6 PM EST Sunday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.

Glenwood Road will be Closed January 25th

Ridgewood NJ, Glenwood Road will be closed from Upper Boulevard to the Ho Ho Kus border on Friday, January 25th from 8am to 5pm.  This closure is required to for tree trimming and tree removal work   by the Village of Ridgewood that day.
