Ridgewood Firefighters Free Trapped Driver After SUV Rollover Crash on Route 17 South

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services officers/firefighters/personnel responded to aid the adult victim of a single vehicle, rollover motor vehicle crash with entrapment that occurred on Route 17 southbound near Paramus Road, Ridgewood on Sunday afternoon, 09/25. The victim was quickly extricated by Ridgewood firefighters and transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Tow trucks righted the vehicle, a Honda SUV, and removed it from the scene. Traffic flow on Route 17 southbound near the accident site was restricted on one (1) lane while emergency responders worked. The victim’s injuries appeared to have been non-life threatening in nature.

Classic 1965 Porsche Wrecked in collision with a Minivan and a Utility pole in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, a classic 1965 Porsche was wrecked when it collided with a minivan and a utility pole on Friday afternoon, 09/23, at the intersection of Franklin Turnpike and Nagle Street, Ridgewood. Both drivers and a minivan passenger were transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital. Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill in addition to providing EMT services. Ridgewood Police handled traffic control and investigated the crash. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Man Found Unconscious after Bee Stings in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ,  according to Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke a 20-year-old man was rendered unconscious in a case of multiple bee stings Wednesday morning in the area of the Stop & Shop on Franklin Avenue .

Crash in Ridgewood Send One to the Hospital with Serious Head injury

Ridgewood NJ, a serious head injury resultant from a two (2) vehicle, Wednesday morning, 09/21, collision at the intersection of Cantrell Road and Highland Avenue, Ridgewood resulted in a momentary loss of consciousness for one (1) of the drivers, and required that he be transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for evaluation and possible treatment. Both heavily damaged vehicles were towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police officers and Ridgewood  firefighters responded to aid the victim and to remediate a crash related fluid spill.

School Bus Crash in Ridgewood Injuries Seven

Ridgewood NJ, seven (7) injuries were reported in connection with a Monday afternoon, 09/19, crash involving a Ridgewood Public School bus and two (2) passenger vehicles at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood. Five (5) crash victims were transported to local hospitals by multiple ambulances according to Ridgewood Emergency Services officials. All three (3) vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel rushed to aid the victims. Additional EMS support was provided by EMS units from The Valley Hospital.

“The Ridgewood Police Department wants to remind our community of the dangers of alcohol. Please drink responsibly and do not get into a vehicle after you have been drinking. There are plenty of ride sharing options available to you before risking your life and others by driving under the influence. We also remind our community of the dangers of underage drinking. If you host a party that has those under the age of 21 drinking, you will be charged criminally.

e-Biker Transported to The Valley Hospital After Being Struck By an Auto on East Ridgewood Avenue

Ridgewood N J, Ridgewood Police officers and Ridgewood firefighters rushed to aid a bicyclist who was struck by an auto while traveling eastbound in the 200 block of East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood on Friday afternoon, 09/16. The adult e-bike rider sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for treatment. Police interviewed the passenger vehicle’s driver, who remained on scene after colliding with the cyclist.

Ridgewood Police Respond to “unspecified threat” at Non-profit School

Ridgewood NJ, The Holmstead School, a non-profit middle school/high school/extended year school located on Hope Street, Ridgewood, was temporarily evacuated on Monday afternoon, 09/12, in response to an “unspecified threat” that was received by the school earlier in the day. A “bottom to top” search of the school building was conducted by several police officers from Ridgewood Police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). The human search party was assisted by two (2) BCSO K-9s. Search results proved negative; faculty, staff, and students were allowed to re-occupy the building within 60 minutes of Ridgewood Police’s initial arrival on scene. An investigation into the threat’s origin will likely be conducted by Ridgewood Police.

Hiker Mistakenly Parks on Dunham Trail in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, on Sunday afternoon, 09/04, Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Andrew Van Dyke was dispatched in response to a 911 telephone call that reported an errant passenger vehicle found parked along a popular nature/waking path, the Village of Ridgewood’s Dunham Trail. The driver, who was taking a leisurely walk along the trail when located by Officer Van Dyke, knowingly drove onto the trail from nearby Spring Avenue, and parked her vehicle about 300 feet in believing that no street parking was permitted in the surrounding area. Fortunately, no pedestrians were injured in the mishap. Van Dyke assisted the driver backing out of the trail onto Spring Avenue and did not issue a summons at the scene.

No Injuries In Parking Lot Mishap on South Maple Avenue Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, no injuries and no damages (except the towing company charges) were reported in connection with an early Friday afternoon, 09/02, parking lot mishap in the rear of a South Maple Avenue, Ridgewood medical office building. Ridgewood Police patrol officer Vincenzo Vaccarella responded to assist the vehicle’s driver/owner, and to collect all information necessary to file a crash report. A flatbed tow truck operator freed the vehicle from its predicament.

Ridgewood Fire Respond to Stove Top Fire at “Chestnut Village” Housing Complex

Ridgewood  NJ, Thursday afternoon, 09/01, multi-family high density housing structure fire, that reportedly originated on a stove top in an unoccupied apartment, resulted in the complete evacuation of the recently constructed “Chestnut Village” housing complex, located in the 100 block of Chestnut Street, Ridgewood. Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood Police  and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel & equipment responded to the incident. Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department and Midland Park Fire Department personnel assisted Ridgewood Fire at the scene. No injuries to firefighters were reported. One (1) adult male building occupant was evaluated by EMTs at the scene; he refused further medical attention. Fire, smoke, and water damage appeared to have been limited to a single apartment.

Early Morning Crash near the intersection of Godwin and Doremus Avenues in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, the adult male driver of a GMC Terrain refused ambulance transportation to The Valley Hospital following a Thursday morning, 08/25, crash in which his vehicle struck a tree near the intersection of Godwin and Doremus Avenues, Ridgewood. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel responded to aid the victim. A Palisades Interstate Parkway Police officer, who was providing traffic control at a nearby road construction site, also responded to the incident. The damaged vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

High Speed Pursuit of an Alleged DUI driver Originating in Ridgewood , Captured in Paramus

Ridgewood NJ, Thursday evening, 08/25, high speed pursuit of an alleged DUI driver that originated in Ridgewood, terminated in a crash with injuries in the parking lot of Home Goods on Route 17 southbound in neighboring Paramus. Multiple parked vehicles were reportedly damaged by the fleeing black colored BMW in downtown Ridgewood, and several moving & parked vehicles were hit in Paramus. At least two (2) individuals were injured in the Paramus crashes. The suspected DUI driver, an adult male reportedly from East Orange, was captured quickly by Paramus Police and turned over to Ridgewood Police for processing.

Ridgewood NJ, on August 16, 2022, Ptl. Bigos and Ptl. Van Dyke along with members of the Ridgewood Fire Department dropped in on Camp Sunshine to show the campers our Emergency Vehicles. Ptl. Bigos and Ptl. Van Dyke explained the functions of Patrol as well as gave a tour of our vehicles allowing the campers to sit in the cars and even make a few arrests!
