Friday Afternoon Crash at Intersection of East Ridgewood and North Pleasant Avenues Diverts Traffic in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, traffic was diverted from the 900 block of westbound East Ridgewood Avenue late Friday afternoon, 06/10, due to a single vehicle crash near the intersection of East Ridgewood and North Pleasant Avenues. The vehicle’s driver sustained a minor leg injury, but refused ambulance transport to a hospital. His 4-door sedan was towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel & vehicles responded to aid the victim.

Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans, called for a nationwide day of remembrance . “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed.

NJ Attorney General Launches the 2022 “Click It or Ticket” Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign in New Jersey

Ridgewood NJ,  as fatal crashes continue to climb in New Jersey, Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Highway Traffic Safety (HTS) today announced the start of New Jersey’s annual “Click it or Ticket” enforcement mobilization targeting drivers and passengers who don’t buckle up. This year, a record 145 law enforcement agencies have received HTS grants totaling more than $890,000 to help pay for enforcement initiatives during the two-week campaign.

Northwest Bergen’s Best Known Beekeeper Comes to The Rescue of Ridgewood Home

Ridgewood NJ, Northwest Bergen’s best known beekeeper, Frank Mortimer, safely removes approximately 15,000 swarming honey bees from a tree located immediately adjacent to a public sidewalk in the 400 block of Stevens Avenue, Ridgewood, less than one (1) block away from an elementary school. To ensure pedestrian safety, Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Christopher Mormino stood by at the scene keeping a safe distance while Frank Mortimer worked. The incident occurred early Thursday afternoon, 05/19.There were no reported injuries .

Mother’s Day outing Ends Badly in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, a Mother’s Day outing ended badly when an adult female was struck and knocked to the ground by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Glen Rock strip mall early Sunday evening, 05/08. Glen Rock Police, Ridgewood Police, Glen Rock EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital rushed to aid the injured woman, who was, fortunately, completely alert and conscious after impact. A Glen Rock EMS ambulance transported her to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus for treatment on her non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved, an adult male, remained on the scene and fully cooperated with police officers who investigated the mishap.

Bear Sightings Continue Throughout Bergen County

Paramus NJ, Several more bear sightings have been reported since Monday .  The Paramus Police Chief said he believes there is more than one bear in Bergen County. Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg told several media outlets that two bears have been seen Monday in Paramus.

Two Car Collision on North Maple in Ho-Ho-Kus Sends One to Hospital

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, one (1) driver was seriously injured when two (2) small, 4-door sedans collided at the intersection of First Street and North Maple Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus early Wednesday afternoon, 04/27. The injured driver, an adult male, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with a paramedic team assisting attending EMTs. The other driver, an adult female, was evaluated on the scene by Ho-Ho-Kus EMTs and refused further medical attention. Both heavily damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ho-Ho-Kus Police, Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department, and Ho-Ho-Kus EMS equipment and personnel responded to aid crash victims, along with a paramedic team from the nearby The Valley Hospital.

Unsung Ridgewood Police Officers Save Neighborhood Fox from Soccer Net

Ridgewood NJ, a family of foxes moved into a Ridgewood backyard . One of the baby foxes became tangled in their soccer net while its mama tried desperately to set it free. The baby was so tangled he or she couldn’t move.

Friday Morning Bomb Threat at Ridgewood High school False Alarm

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police Department were summoned to Ridgewood High School late Friday morning  when  a bomb threat at Ridgewood high school phoned into central dispatch. Ridgewood police assisted by numerous agencies searched the interior and exterior of the school and confirmed this was a false threat. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau assisted by the Bergen county prosecutors office is investigating the call. There is currently no threat to the students.

Ridgewood Westside Reporting Power Outages

Ridgewood Nj, electric power outages in sections of the Village’s west side may have been related to a downed tree in the 300 block of Godwin Avenue that took out two (2) utility poles when it fell early Saturday afternoon, 03/12.  No motor vehicles were hit when the tree fell, nor were any personal injuries reported.  Godwin Avenue was closed in both directions from Melrose Place to West End/South Murray Avenues as of 1300 hours.  Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel and vehicles responded to the incident.

‘Freedom Convoy’ rolls Down Route 17 through New Jersey

Ridgewood NJ, truck drivers opposed to vaccine mandates and other coronavirus restrictions rolled through New Jersey this weekend as part of an ongoing group of protests around the country known as the Freedom Convoy . Enthusiastic crowds greeted the convoy as it passed through Bergen County  all under the eyes of watchful local police .

Dog Walker Struck in Ridgewood’s Central Business District

Ridgewood NJ, yesterday it was reported that a dog walker crossing Broad Street in the Central Business District was hit  by a vehicle and taken to  St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.  Sadly the dog did not make it . Over the years the Ridgewood blog has reported numerous similar instances .
