Trenton NJ, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed a bill Wednesday that allows New Jersey college students who are in the country illegally to obtain financial aid and pay instate rates for their college education.
Murphy called the United States the “world’s melting pot” where people come “in the hope of a new life,” when he signed the legislation at Rutgers-Newark, according to NJ.com.
Not a melting pot for everyone however, Governor Murphy’s bill to extend financial aid to illegal immigrants now makes New Jersey is one of the few states that discriminates against legal residents .
While legal immigrants are forced to pay out of state or international tuition rates , illegal immigrants pay instate tuition fees, treating legal immigrants as third class citizens .
For example at Rutgers University instate tuition is $11,619 while legal immigrants face a huge 116.19% gap paying out of state tuition of $27,560 . Gov. Phil Murphy is telling people crime pays .

Ridgewood NJ, The Secret Gardens Tour has become a tradition for garden lovers from near and far. Plan to spend a delightful day with family and friends on a self-guided tour. Each garden is unique and reflects the individual style of
the owner.
The beautiful gardens will delight and enchant ticket holders. Their splendor is the result of careful planning and lots of experimentation. Whether you are a novice gardener or have years of experience, you’ll enjoy these unique public and private gardens in Ridgewood and the historic Cheelcroft section of Ho-Ho-Kus. Not to be missed – the historic James Rose House and Garden. Constructed in 1953 on an area half the size of a tennis court, Rose described his home as a “tiny village;” a composite of three buildings for himself, his mother and his sister. Here Rose created a unique work of art fusing modern sculpture, architecture and landscape into a single unified place for living. Before his death in 1991, Rose planned the establishment of The James Rose Center for Landscape Architectural Research and Design – a living demonstration of his approach to design as a never-ending process of change and development. The Center now serves as the headquarters of a non-profit educational foundation. The entry fee is being generously waived by the Center for our ticket holders.
Tickets are now on sale at Backyard Living, Bookends and Mango Jam in Ridgewood. Maps are included on the ticket. All tickets must be picked up at the Ridgewood Public Library on Saturday, June 2nd from 10am to 1pm OR Sunday, June 3rd from 9am to 3pm.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog would like to wish all the moms old and new a very happy Mothers Day !
We would also like to add a touch of history ,like many modern holidays, Mother’s Day didn’t quite pop up out of the blue. The ancient Greeks and Romans dedicated festivals to the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, respectively. And 16th century England gave rise to Mothering Sunday, during which children would make a pilgrimage to their family church (aka their ‘mother’ church) on the fourth Sunday of Lent. That trip also provided a good excuse for a family reunion—and a day off for domestic-servant workers, usually daughters, so they could see their mothers. Mothering Sunday is still celebrated in the U.K., though it is now generally a secular holiday.
Ridgewood Nj, Councilmen Ramon Hache updates us on progress for the Hudson Street Garage .On Wednesday, April 25, there was a discussion and presentation regarding the design and plan for the Hudson Street Garage. Residents had a chance to see a detailed presentation by Epic Management Inc. The design by Epic provides the best balance in terms of fit, value and functionality, while incorporating a design that fits within the existing lot.
Design highlights:
255 parking spaces
3 stories with open fourth level
All parking is head in, 90 degree, with no parallel parking
Stall dimensions: 8′-6″ x 18′-0″
All parking within the structure is on flat areas
The project cost is $10 million with a guaranteed maximum price of $11 million. It is worth noting that, before the negotiations, Epic had come in with quotes as high as $12.6 million for the project. I am very proud of the work Mayor Knudsen and I have done in negotiating. Vote on funding is expected to take place in six weeks.
