80% of Small Business are Still Waiting for Financial Assistance Loans

Ridgewood NJ, The NFIB Research Center released a survey today on the small business loan programs. Small business owners were asked about the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan on April 17, the day after the programs ran out of money. About 20% of submitted applications have been fully processed with funds deposited in the borrower’s account, but 80% of respondents said they are still waiting, and many do not know where they are in the application process.

Ridgewood NJ, In a blow to Governor Murphy, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said earlier Sunday the White House and Congress could reach a deal today on supplemental funding for small businesses. Mnuchin said President Trump is prepared to discuss funding for state and local governments in the next bill while this package focuses on loans to small businesses and hospitals and testing.

It is Time to Discuss a Regional Plan for Reopening the Economy

TRENTON NJ,  Governors in a handful of Northeastern States held a conference call to discuss a regional plan for reopening the economy when it’s time to lift some restrictions on the public and businesses. NFIB believes it is important to have those discussions now because a huge number of small businesses are in a financial crisis of immense proportions.  While the business owners do want their employees and customers to be safe, a recent survey by NFIB showed most of these companies’ cash reserves could run out in one to two months making reopening not an option.

Voters Fear Indefinite Shutdown, Worry Government May Make Things Worse

Ridgewoood NJ, according to Rasmussen Reports ,voters question how long the United States can remain locked down because of the coronavirus, and most share President Trump’s worry that the government may go too far in its efforts to defeat the disease.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 36% of Likely U.S. Voters think the United States can afford to remain largely shutdown for an indefinite period of time to limit the spread of the coronavirus. A plurality (46%) believes America can’t afford an indefinite shutdown, while 18% are not sure.

Business survey shows state not doing enough to save economy, small-business owners

MIDLAND PARK  NJ, The state economy will be facing a deluge of business closings if it doesn’t do more to help employers, according to a COVID-19 Business Impact Survey by Assemblyman Christopher DePhillips.

Of the 121 survey responses, nearly half (45%) will not survive the next three weeks, and one-hundred (83.3%) businesses will be closed by the end of June.

BREAKING: Tedesco Rescinds Executive Order Declaring State of Emergency in Bergen County At the Request of the Governor

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco today rescinded his Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency in the County at the request of the Governor.  The County Executive will hold a news conference today – March 19 – at 5:30 p.m. at Two Bergen County Plaza to discuss these recent developments and the next steps he will be taking to protect the residents, visitors and workers of Bergen County.

Tedesco said on Wednesday that he submitted the revised executive order to the Governor for review.  During his daily briefing on Tuesday, Murphy appealed to county and local governments to coordinate with the state. “We will override local and county actions to make sure we are consistent in our approach,” Murphy said.
