Readers Rattle off a Litany of Complaints of the village choosing to support a business over the quality of life of tax payers

Habernickel HealthBarn USA protest

file photo by Boyd Loving

Many changes during my 28 years as a neighbor of the Habernickel Horse Farm. The once bucolic setting transformed into a chaotic mix of nonstop Health barn business activities and recreation programs. Hillcrest Road is a mess and wildlife is disappearing.Fear of retaliation keeps neighbors quiet.

Stacy Antine stalks the neighbors. She takes photos of them walking their dogs in the park and she instructs her employees to do the same.  She has a timeline in a few of them and they are NOT afraid to share it or speak out. This business destroyed a park and the owner made it personal and took neighbors to court. Ramon was aware of this situation and now as Mayor is promoting it. What a disappointment .

Be careful in that park. Antine keeps a list of all who enter even-neighborhood kids with backpacks what out. Unless you pay to go you get written up It is NO longer a friendly neighborhood park thanks to healthbarn and the village for still allowing it.

I heard that Antine was accusing neighbors of being racist, and now that I remember those hearings was back when Aronsohn and Sonenfeld ruled the dais that was the case then. People who spoke up against using a public park for a private enterprise were accused of not wanting children from Newark to come to lily white Ridgewood. Whenever the racism card is put down on the table all bets are off. She is despicable.

the neighbors are willing to let everyone know what Stacy Antine owner of healthbarn did to them in their own neighborhood where they must pay a ton of taxes to live Ramon should be ashamed to promote this business after the owner pulled a stunt like the one she did. Everyone should know and be aware that the village is choosing to support a business over the quality of life of tax payers

Home break-ins are far more prevalent in the U.S. during the summer

Ridgewood_Police_theridgewoodblog

July 24,2018

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, While it is commonly thought that most burglaries take place when nights are at their longest, home break-ins are far more prevalent in the U.S. during the summer when the days are longer, spiking 10% in June, July and August in particular. In 2016, 278,600 break-ins occurred at night, while 486,006 took place during the day, with $2,361 in items stolen on average.

Further, as reported by the FBI, 60% of burglaries happen between 6am and 6pm.

Understanding that your home is most at risk when the sun is shining, Ooma Home [https://www.ooma.com/home-security/] — an innovative home security and monitoring platform, and creator of the Ooma Butterfleye security camera — has compiled 5 essential tips for residents to keep in mind to help prevent break-ins this season:

#1 Purchase a smart security video camera
33% of break ins could be prevented by better security tech. A security camera such as the Ooma Butterfleye (link) that provides 24/7 live-streaming allows you to check on your home from work or wherever you are in the world, as well as capturing any suspicious activity that might occur.

#2 Mind the front door
34% of break-ins occur at the front door. Make sure the door frame and lock are well secured and in good condition, and consider installing a smart doorbell.

#3 Stay off social media
66% of burglaries are committed by someone who knows the victim. Don’t share your location on social media or post any photos from a vacation until you return.

#4 Become a vigilant landscaper

Unkempt shrubbery and trees around the house provide the perfect hiding spots for intruders. Keep them trimmed, and consider planting thorny bushes near entry points

#5 Keep your car keys near you at all times
Someone is home during 28% of burglaries. Keep your keys within reach to turn on your car alarm to scare off any thieves.

Reader says the prior council had too many commercial supporters and buddies to really know what was going on

3 amigos

I seriously do not believe that our present council members are in it for the non- existent money that they have pouring in for their votes. They are actually forfeiting time that could possibly be used to earn money instead. I’m afraid I can only say that about this council as prior ones had too many commercial supporters and buddies to really know what was going on.

Ridgewood YMCA CEO Explains Changes

Ridgewood YMCA theridgewoodblog.net 1

July 20, 2018

Dear Friend of the Ridgewood YMCA,

After a productive partnership spanning 70 years in their shared 112 Oak Street, Ridgewood facility, the Boards of Directors of the Ridgewood YMCA and YWCA Bergen County announce plans to restructure their joint operations.

While the Ridgewood YMCA will continue operations at 112 Oak Street, YWCA Bergen County will move its operations to a different location. The transition period will begin in August 2018 and be completed in September 2018.

The Ridgewood YMCA and YWCA Bergen County have decided this course of action to better serve our community while preserving the very important missions of our respective organizations. Our YMCA staff will be working diligently to ensure a smooth transition process is in place and we will continue to communicate updates to our members.

The Ridgewood YMCA will expand its operations at 112 Oak Street and provide the same high-quality services that all members have come to expect and enjoy in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. A future capital fundraising campaign will be explored, and with the support of the community, much needed facility upgrades and improvements will be made.

Ridgewood YMCA and Bolger Fitness Center members in good standing will continue their membership unchanged. A Frequently Asked Questions section will be featured on the Ridgewood Y’s website (www.ridgewoodymca.org) and a FAQ information sheet will be available at the Welcome Center Desk.

Denis Salamone, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said “With improvements to the facility at 112 Oak Street and enhancements to programs, the Ridgewood YMCA will serve its members and the community better than at any other time in my 31 years as a YMCA volunteer.”

Brian Hughes, President of the Board of Directors commented, “My family and I have been members of the Ridgewood Y for 18 years. “All three of my children have been involved in the youth programs, camp and on the Breakers swim team.” “I know from personal experience what a positive impact the Y has made in our lives and I am thrilled with the restructuring of our organization and its potential for favorable changes and growth.” “I look forward to many more people of all ages being able to experience a healthy lifestyle and sense of community that the Y provides”.

Please visit Ridgewood YMCA (ridgewoodymca.org) on the web, and follow us on social media for information and updates.

Thank you.
