Ridgewood NJ, The Valley Hospital has been named one of the world’s best hospitals by Newsweek in its inaugural World’s Best Hospitals 2019 list.
The World’s Best Hospitals 2019 ranking lists the 1,000 best hospitals in 11 countries: USA, Canada, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Israel.
Valley is one of only five N.J. hospitals and 250 U.S. hospitals featured on the list, and is ranked as the 104th best hospital in the U.S.
Ridgewood NJ, The Valley Hospital participated in a landmark clinical trial that evaluated the ability of a novel, fully absorbable antibacterial envelope – the Medtronic TYRX™ Absorbable Antibacterial Envelope – to reduce infections associated with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). The study found positive results and demonstrated that the envelope reduced the risk of major infection by 40 percent, and pocket infection by 61 percent, in patients at increased risk for infections receiving CIEDs, compared to standard-of-care pre-operative antibiotics.
The trial results were recently presented in a late-breaking session at the American College of Cardiology’s 68th Annual Scientific Sessions and published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Suneet Mittal, M.D., FACC, FHRS, Director, Electrophysiology, Valley Medical Group; Associate Chair, Cardiovascular Services, Valley Medical Group; Medical Director, The Snyder Center for Comprehensive Atrial Fibrillation, The Valley Hospital; and Director, Cardiac Research, Valley Health System, is one of the authors on the manuscript just published in the New England Journal of Medicine and served on the steering committee of the WRAP-IT trial.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Departement , Ridgewood EMS, and a Village of Ridgewood building sub code official rushed to the 200 block of Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood on Sunday afternoon, 02/17 in response to several 911 calls reporting an SUV that had run off the roadway and crashed into a detached garage. Ridgewood Fire officials said on Facebook ” A” shift responded to a car that ran off the road and into a detached garage of a house “
Two (2) occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The garage sustained moderate structural damage. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreck.
Glen Rock NJ, A rollover crash following a high speed pursuit by Fair Lawn Police took place on the evening of Tuesday, 01/01 at the intersection of Gibson Place and Godfrey Terrace, Glen Rock. One (1) suspect in the vehicle was taken into custody by Fair Lawn Police and transported by a Glen Rock EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Glen Rock EMTs with patient evaluation. A possibility exists that two (2) suspects from the incident triggering the pursuit may still be at large.

Twp. of Washington NJ, Representatives from OSHA are currently investigating a Tuesday morning, 12/11 workplace accident in Washington Township involving Carbon Monoxide exposure that sent two (2) landscapers to The Valley Hospital in critical condition. Washington Township Police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification are also on the Pond Drive, Washington Township scene.
Ridgewood NJ, Three (3) occupants, including the driver, of a Lexus SUV were transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle, Monday night, 12/03, collision at the intersection of Dayton and Prospect Streets in Ridgewood. All of the victims were adults from the same family. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire, Ridgewood EMS, Glen Rock EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to aid the victims. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, a Nissan Sentra, was uninjured. Both damaged cars were removed from the scene by tow trucks. Ridgewood Fire personnel also attended to a minor crash related fluid spill. No word yet as to whether any summonses were issued in connection with the incident.
Fair Lawn NJ, Two (2) Fair Lawn High School students were injured in a single vehicle, Monday afternoon, 11/26, crash in which their vehicle wound up on the front lawn of a home located at 12-06 20th Street, Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn Police Department , Fair Lawn EMS, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue units all responded to the incident. The two (2) crash victims were transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Fair Lawn EMS EMTs. The wrecked vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck. A natural gas line serving the home was compromised during the crash. A sub code official from the Borough of Fair Lawn was dispatched to evaluate the structure’s post crash integrity.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Department personnel used the “Jaws of Life” to extricate the driver of a dark colored SUV from her vehicle following a Friday evening, 11/02 crash at the intersection of South Monroe Street and West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. Ridgewood EMS transported two (2) victims of the crash to The Valley Hospital. All injuries were reported to be non life threatening in nature. Ridgewood PD also responded. At least one (1) vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck.
Glen Rock NJ, A three (3) vehicle Saturday evening, 10/27, collision at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Rock Road, Glen Rock resulted in two (2) individuals being transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital. All injuries were reported to be non life threatening in nature. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock EMS responded to the incident. One (1) of the vehicles wound up on the front lawn of single family home located in the 500 block of Rock Road. All three (3) vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene.
