Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey State Senator Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg has released her 2016 Women’s Power List, an annual compilation of the most powerful and influential women in New Jersey.  Valley Health System is proud to announce that Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System, has been named to this prestigious list for the second consecutive year.

Stated Senator Weinberg, “A big thank you to all the strong and successful women in Trenton and around the state — far too many to name — who continue to add cracks to the glass ceiling, and who I know will contribute to the effort to finally shatter it.”

“I congratulate all the women named to Senator Weinberg’s Power list, and am proud to be included among them,” said Meyers.

Readers say Judge a person by the company they keep

Paul Aronsohn

Judge a person by the company they keep. Aronsohn and the League of Women’s Voters President Anne Burton Walsh were hanging out together that day. Anne Burton Walsh…..not impressed with your choice of companion. Not at all.

Aronsohn is going to run for something else, which of course will give all of us the opportunity to vote against him and for sure to campaign against him. What the hell reason did he have to be at the event on Saturday? Come on, get real. He does not have little kids. He does not have a business in the CBD. He is not in the Ridgewood Guild or the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce. He does not believe in Santa. He is not an elected official. If he was there, and apparently he was, then it was to advance his own devious agenda.

Turnover, trials and triumph at Ridgewood parking spot

Parking spot No. 24 in Ridgewood is an excellent spot for parking. It sits across Walnut Street from Memorial Park, smack in the middle of the downtown shopping district, next to the Alex & Ani jewelry shop and close to popular places like Starbucks, the Warner movie theater and the Country Pancake House.

Spot No. 24 is so good, in fact, that it’s nearly impossible to park there.

Reader pays the Ridgewood blog a nice compliment

village-hall-theridgewoodblog

Yes, thank you James. Your huge effort in developing, nurturing, marketing, and when appropriate, crowing about the impact and popularity of this forum is a big thing that local individuals and groups who have taken the time to learn about civil society, and who now realize its vital importance as a counterweight to the nanny state zealots who are seemingly all around us, gravely appreciate. Is it too much to say that you have played a significant part in cleaning up our local politics? That you opened the eyes of Village residents to the many virtues associated with our Faulkner Act-inspired tradition of non-partisan decision-making, enough to prompt local voters to take out so much trash in one fell swoop during the most recent round of Village Council elections? If it’s true that all politics is local, then your genuinely local focus is an excellent example to other true patriots operating in your slice of the publishing industry. Please keep doing what you’re doing!!!

NEW JERSEY FREES UP $67M FOR OPEN SPACE, RECREATION PROJECTS

TOM JOHNSON | NOVEMBER 23, 2016

Money represents first to come from stable source of funding approved by voters in 2014

Credit: newsworks.org

For the first time in two years, the state is looking to award up to $67.4 million in funding to municipalities, counties, and nonprofit groups to acquire open space and develop recreational projects.

The state Department of Environmental Protection is accepting applications for the first chunk of money to be doled by a new stable source of funding approved by voters back in the fall of 2014 for Green Acres projects.

A dispute between the Christie administration and the Legislature that lasted months derailed the annual disbursement of grants and loans to towns and other groups for park development, land acquisition, and, for the first time, stewardship of protected land.

Readers say Handicapped spots are regularly abused in the Village of Ridgewood

ADA Handicapped Parking Sign K 1437

I’m handicapped (but not yet 80) but I have to totally agree with your statement. “I’m not parked, I’m just waiting for someone.” (Yeah, BUT you’re “waiting” in a handicapped spot making it inaccessible for use.) Funny, that young man (?) cut me off for the handicapped space and just ran up those steps. Gee, is his name really Gracie? That’s what is on the temporary placard. Handicapped spots are regularly abused…..

……Garage issue should be officially dead by now. There are many who have handicapped decals who shouldn’t have them, or have them because a family member is handicapped. Anyone who uses one of these who is less than 80 or is not clearly handicapped should be publicly beaten. I have approached more than one able-bodied handicap space user who was outraged that I questioned their sense of entitlement. they ruin it for all.
