Senate candidates Republican Kristin M. Corrado, the Passaic County clerk, and Democrat Thomas Duch will debate, as will Republican Assembly candidates Christopher P. DePhillips and incumbent appointee Kevin J. Rooney and Democrats Christine Ordway and Paul Vagianos.

Reader says You need metered parking because we have so much demand for parking

Disagree with both. There’s no disconnect. You need metered parking because we have so much demand for parking. Without limits and enforcement, the businesses will suffer. Might seem counterintuitive but it’s a matter of supply and demand. We can’t find parking today with 3 hour limits and meter rates….imagine how much parking you’ll find if it was free! Glen Rock has like two delis and a couple of shops. They don’t have nearly the same amount of retail stores or restaurants that we have. Same goes for Midland Park, HoHoKus, Waldwick, Wyckoff, Allendale. Should I go on? So no, we don’t have any competition. Route 17 and Garden State Plaza are not substitutes for a Downtown like ours.
And to suggest that people here live in a bubble, and that they don’t know what else is out there, is simply ridiculous. We have a very educated consumer who chooses to live here for the very reasons people trip over themselves to come here. And by the way, taxes in Glen Rock are actually higher than in Ridgewood. But somehow, people in Ridgewood think that their taxes are higher than any other place on earth. It’s just a high class brag that gives some people the justification for being an asshole. So stay home, order from Amazon, home-school your children and become a hermit. Just make sure to Amazon Prime some Vitamin D supplements.

Good luck – this hurts union jobs and so those thugs and their toadies in Trenton will say anything and everything to oppose municipal consolidation. Home rule allows for about 70% more police than we actually need, etc. But the unions lackeys will lie till their Pinocchio noses reach Pennsylvania telling us all how our safety is at risk without home rule. Look at Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus, Ridgewood, Glen rock and Midland Park: one police dept with one chief would suffice, but instead we have five chiefs and top heavy brass. Great for the unions, outright theft of taxpayers. It’s blue collar crime.

Six Bergen County towns were named among the state’s 10 safest small municipalities by a consumer finance website.

Old Tappan was ranked No. 2, Park Ridge at No. 5 and Emerson, Wyckoff, Waldwick and Norwood taking the seventh through 10th spots in ValuePenguin’s list of towns with fewer than 20,000 residents. In the midsize municipality category — which ranked towns with populations between 20,000 and 45,000 — Bergenfield came in seventh.

No North Jersey towns were named in the big city category, which looked at municipalities with populations above 45,000.

On ValuePenguin’s top five safest cities — which did not take population into account — Old Tappan ranked No. 2 and Park Ridge came in at No. 5.

Ridgewod NJ , A 66 year old Waldwick woman driving a Mazda Protege northbound on Goffle Road in Ridgewood, crossed the double yellow line into Wyckoff and collided head on with a Overnight Trucking/UPS tractor trailer on Thursday afternoon just after 2 PM. The point of impact was in front of 545 Goffle Road, Wyckoff. Emergency responders from both Wyckoff and Ridgewood rushed to the scene. The victim pinned in her vehicle; Wyckoff firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to free her. She was transported by Ridgewood EMS to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson with severe traumatic injuries. A paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood assisted Ridgewood EMS with treatment and transport. The crash is being investigated by Wyckoff PD.
