Twp of Washington NJ, Washington Township Police report another bear sighting not far from the Glen School area of Ridgewood : Please be advised a Black Bear was spotted roaming on Howard Street earlier this morning. He was most recently spotted strolling down Ridgewood Road, just east of Westwood High School.
Twp. of Washington NJ, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was injured during a Friday morning, 05/06, rollover crash in the 1900 block of East Glen Avenue in Washington Township. The Toyota hit a utility pole just prior to flipping on its left side, damaging a back up battery installation owned by a local cable TV/internet provider. The vehicle’s driver sustained a non-life threatening injury, and was taken by a Washington Township ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire Department, and Paramus Fire Engine Company #3 personnel and equipment also responded to the incident. The rolled over Toyota was righted by a flatbed tow truck and removed from the scene. A PSE&G troubleshooter determined that the utility pole had not been compromised by the hit.
Twp. of Washington NJ, multiple individuals were injured in seemingly simultaneous crashes on the Garden State Parkway southbound and northbound near East Glen Avenue, Washington Township on Friday afternoon, 12/10. New Jersey State Police Bloomfield Barracks Patrol units were assisted by personnel and vehicles from Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire Department, Washington Township EMS, Paramus EMS, and The Valley Hospital Emergency Services Division. Four (4) vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. Traffic in the area was backed up for miles in both directions for over one (1) hour.
Twp of Washington NJ, a trailer loaded with scrap metal buckled and dropped to the roadway while being pulled by a tractor southbound in the 500 block of Pascack Road, Washington Township on Tuesday morning, 07/13. No injuries were reported in the incident. Washington Township Police closed a portion of Pascack Road while the trailer’s contents were off-loaded before it was removed from the scene by a heavy duty wrecker. Police at the scene indicated that several summons would likely be issued in connection with the mishap.
Twp of Washington NJ, A single non-life threatening injury was reported following a Tuesday morning, 01/19, rollover crash in the 600 block of Mariann Place, Washington Township. Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire, and Washington Township EMS responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck righted the vehicle and removed it from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police are currently conducting an investigation into the exact circumstances of a Thursday evening, 05/14, single vehicle crash of an SUV on Henrietta Court, Ridgewood, in which the front driver’s side door was almost ripped from the vehicle, and its adult female driver was found lying in the street with serious injuries. The victim was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to Hackensack University Center’s main campus. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Ridgewood EMTs with patient evaluation and transport. Washington Township Police also assisted at the scene as did members of Ridgewood Fire Department Engine Company #35.
Twp of Washington NJ, amazingly there were no serious injuries reported following the late Saturday morning, 04/04, crash of a Jeep SUV into a utility pole at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Washington Avenue, Washington Township. Traffic was detoured around the crash site for hours to allow utility crews safe access to the work zone. Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire Department, and Washington Township EMS responded to the incident scene. Westwood Police provided traffic control assistance.
Washingtonn Twp NJ, , Washington Township firefighters extricated two (2) adults and two (2) dogs from a heavily damaged 4-door sedan that had crashed head on into a guard rail before tumbling into a ditch on the Garden State Parkway’s Exit 168 northbound ramp. The human adult male and adult female victims were transported by ambulances to local hospitals.
Twp. of Washington NJ, A vehicle reported stolen from Hillsdale early Thursday evening, 12/27, was spotted by a Ho-Ho-Kus Police patrol officer within minutes after a radio broadcast reporting the theft. A high speed pursuit ensued into Washington Township where the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Washington Avenue. Following a short foot pursuit, one (1) individual who had fled from the crashed vehicle was apprehended in the rear of 639 Clinton Avenue, Washington Township. The suspect was transported by a Westwood EMS ambulance to New Bridge Medical Center for treatment of a non life threatening laceration to the head. Officers from Hillsdale Police, Paramus Police, Ridgewood Police, Westwood Police, and Washington Township Police were observed assisting Ho-Ho-Kus Police at the scene. The wrecked vehicle, a 4-door Honda Accord, was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. The car had reportedly been left running with the keys in the ignition.
Washington Twp NJ, The back end of a flatbed truck loaded with approximately 10,000 pounds of granite wound up in a roadside ditch following an injury free Thursday afternoon, 09/13, collision on the notorious Washington Avenue hill in Washington Township. Washington Township Police responded to investigate the incident. Eastbound and westbound traffic was blocked on the hill until the stuck vehicle was safely removed. No word as to whether any summonses were issued in connection with the crash.
Washington Twp NJ, Washington Township Police and Washington Township Fire Department personnel responded to utility emergency involving a downed tree onto high tension electric lines and communications cables in the 700 block of Wearimus Road, Washington Township on Monday afternoon, 08/13. The fallen tree completely blocked the heavily traveled roadway necessitating detours be put into place by Hillsdale Police, Ho-Ho-Kus Police, and Washington Township Police. No injuries were reported in the incident, but many electric & communications services subscribers in the area were negatively impacted.
Washington Twp NJ, A four (4) vehicle, Wednesday afternoon, 05/30, collision at the intersection of Van Emburgh Avenue and Washington Avenue in Washington Township resulted in three (3) non life threatening injuries. All three (3) victims were transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital. Two (2) flatbed tow trucks were required to remove the wrecked vehicles from the busy intersection. Washington Township Police, EMS, and Fire Department personnel responded along with an ambulance from Hackensack University Medical Center’s north campus.
Washington Twp NJ, Washington Township Police investigated a serious vehicle vs. pedestrian collision that took place in the 300 block of Beechwood Drive, Washington Township late Friday evening, 04/13. The victim was transported by ambulance for a short distance, then taken by helicopter to a trauma center. Washington Township EMS and Fire Department personnel were also called into service, as was a paramedic team from a nearby hospital. The victim reportedly sustained a serious head injury. Washington Township Police officers were observed interviewing the driver of the vehicle involved, who remained at the scene.
Washington Twp NJ, For the second time in less than one (1) week, an inexperienced tractor trailer driver was unable to safely negotiate a steep hill on Washington Avenue in Washington Township, requiring Washington Township Police to close a portion of the busy roadway on Thursday morning, 12/14, until the rig could be removed. Following consultation with an officer from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Police Services, Traffic Division, Washington Township PD issued two (2) summonses to the rig’s driver. After issuing the summonses, patrol officers directed the truck’s driver to turn around in a nearby cul-de-sac in order to safely re-enter Washington Avenue. However, the driver was unable to successfully complete the turn around maneuver and the rig became stuck in a pile of snow covered leaves. A heavy duty wrecker was then summoned to free the truck from its predicament.
Washington Twp NJ, An inexperienced tractor trailer driver was unable to negotiate a steep portion of Washington Avenue west of Van Emburgh Avenue in Washington Township on Tuesday afternoon, 12/12 and lost control of the rig while trying to back down the hill. Washington Township Police responded and issued multiple summonses to the driver and impounded the rig for being unregistered and uninsured. A heavy duty tow truck driver freed the rig from its predicament before towing it to the impound yard. No one was injured in the incident.
