Paramus NJ, after  a winter weather delay Bergen County’s Winter Wonderland  and Christmas Tree lighting in Van Saun Park finally happened .

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco ,It was truly a “Winter Wonderland ” in Van Saun County Park on Sunday as Bergen County’s Winter Wonderland hosted it’s annual tree lighting ceremony featuring Santa Claus, carols, holiday instrumental jazz from the Bergen County Academies Jazz band, and fresh snowfall! Thank you to all who came out on Sunday to attend this special celebration. Remember, Bergen County Winter Wonderland is open Fridays through Sunday from now until News Years Day!

Bergen County Approves 2022 Open Space Trust Fund Grants

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County officials voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve the list of projects recommended for funding by the Bergen County Open Space, Recreation, Floodplain Protection, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee. With 70 grants in total, the nearly $18 million will support projects throughout Bergen County that will boost public access to outdoor recreation, conserve and acquire open space, and support nearly 60 municipal and county parks.

UPDATE: 10 Students From the Ridgewood High School Band Program Make 2023 NJ All-Bergen County Band

Ridgewood NJ, 10 students from the RHS Band Program who auditioned were accepted to perform as a member of the 2023 NJ All-Bergen County Band. It’s the highest number of students selected from any one school to participate in the ensemble. The All County Band will perform their concert on Sunday, January 15 at Bergenfield High School. Once again, this is the highest number of students selected from any one school to participate in the 87-piece ensemble.

Ridgewood NJ, Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer received $5,800 in personal donations from Bankman-Fried. Gottheimer our local congressman also received two separate donations of $2,900 each — from FTX executive Mark Wetjen, who previously worked as commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. A spokesperson from Rep. Gottheimer’s office claims he will donate the funds to charity.

Ridgewood High School Hosted Robotics Competition

Ridgewood NJ, on November 19th, Ridgewood High School hosted the First Tech Challenge League Meet, a competitive robotics competition. The RHS team played welcomed 24 teams from across the region. Each team consisting of up to 15 students must design, build and operate a robot.

Author & Illustrator Robin Ha Pays a Visit to Ridgewood High School

Ridgewood NJ, on December 7th, Robin Ha, author of the graphic memoir Almost American Girl, visited Ridgewood High School and shared her time and talents with students and staff. Ms. Ha presented two hands-on Memoir Comics Workshops, each attended by over 250 students! She joined members of the Asian Festival Club to give a more intimate lunchtime talk. Ms. Ha offered strategies for improving one’s writing and drawing skills, engaged the audience with amusing and poignant stories from her past, and brought out the inner artist in all who attended. When asked how we become writers, Ms. Ha responded, “You have to write a lot!” Many thanks to the RHS Home and School Association for their generous sponsorship of this event.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Anthony Daniels was on track to becoming a professional athlete, till one day a freak car accident ended his hockey career. He was accepted to Fordham University to study business and pre-law, when Anthony developed an itch starting at his toes that quickly moved up his body. Following several tests, Anthony was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
