Ridgewood N J, President Biden officially announced on Wednesday that his administration is forgiving up to $10,000 in student loan debt for borrowers making less than $125,000 annually and $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients, marking the largest forgiveness of federal student loans per individual to date. In addition to forgiving up to $20,000 in student debt for Pell recipients, will also cancel up to $10,000 in student loans for individuals making less than $125,000 a year,

Twitter’s Former Security Chief Accuses Company Negligent Security Practices

Ridgewood NJ, Twitter’s former head of security Peiter “Mudge” Zatko has accused the company of negligent security practices. He claims that Twitter misled federal regulators about its safety and that the company fails to properly estimate the number of bots on its platform. About half of Twitter’s 7,000 or so full-time employees have access to users’ sensitive personal data and internal software. Twitter has failed to delete user data in the past as the records were spread too widely among internal systems to be tracked. The company could face significant fines if the accusations are proven to be correct.

Point Pleasant NJ, on August 14, several troopers rescued 11 passengers from a sinking vessel in Point Pleasant, Ocean County.
At approximately 4:24p.m., Sergeant First Class Christopher Kochman, along with Troopers Michael Sugzda, Kristofer Buonomo, Francis Morris, and Luke Drazdik of Point Pleasant Station observed a vessel in distress in the Point Pleasant Canal.

Fair Lawn NJ, No injuries were reported following a crash in which a passenger car slammed head on into a Quick Mart convenience store located at 17-11 Broadway, Fair Lawn on Tuesday morning, 08/23, at approximately 10 AM. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, and Fair Lawn Fire Company #1 responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck removed the vehicle from the scene. There was no emergent structural damage to the store.

Apple Employee Group Claims Compelling Reasons Why many Employees should be able to Continue to Work from Home

Ridgewood NJ, some Apple employees have formed an internal advocacy group called Apple Together to push back against the company’s return-to-office plans. The group is collecting signatures for a petition that claims Apple’s mandate ignores compelling reasons for why many employees should be able to continue to work from home. Apple Together is advocating for a system where individual employees can talk with their direct managers to decide expectations on a case-by-case basis. The petition is still connecting signatures and has not yet been formally sent to Apple’s senior leadership.

Ridgewood NJ, on August 16, 2022, Ptl. Bigos and Ptl. Van Dyke along with members of the Ridgewood Fire Department dropped in on Camp Sunshine to show the campers our Emergency Vehicles. Ptl. Bigos and Ptl. Van Dyke explained the functions of Patrol as well as gave a tour of our vehicles allowing the campers to sit in the cars and even make a few arrests!
