More Americans Will Attend Church This Easter

Ridgewood NJ, as life returns to normal following the COVID-19 pandemic, slightly more Americans expect they’ll celebrate Easter Sunday in church.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 42% of American Adults say they will attend a church service to celebrate Easter this year. That’s up from 40% last year. Forty-two percent (42%) say they won’t be in church for Easter, down from 47% a year ago, while another 16% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, has celebrated the Palm Sunday Mass and the Chrism Mass at Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

Regent Care Exterior Wall Collapses in Hackensack

Hackensack NJ, City of Hackensack Fire Department was called to 50 Polifly Road , Regent Care For an exterior wall collapse. All residents were moved to a safe area. A Structural engineer was called in to determine the stability of the building. No injuries were reported . Once again all residents were moved to a different wing of the facility into a safe area .

NJ Transit Bus and Car Collide in Hackensack

Hackensack NJ, City of Hackensack Fire Department Engine 5, Rescue 1, Deputy 1, & HUMC BLS and ALS responded to car and NJ Transit buss accident on Main and Coles. Fire Fighters  extricated 1 person from the car and the occupant was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center . No injuries reported on the bus . Hackensack police are conducting an investigation .

Dr. Sherri Burr: Examining The Relationships Between Hermitage Residents Aaron Burr, Theodosia Prevost, and Mary Eugenie Beauharnais Emmons

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, Dr. Sherri Burr traces her ancestry to John Pierre Burr, an anti-slavery activist on the Underground Railroad, who was the son of color of Aaron Burr. The Aaron Burr Association had been researching for over a decade the paternity of John Pierre Burr and his sister Louisa Charlotte when Sherri Burr presented evidence related to genetic ties in 2018. The Aaron Burr Association voted unanimously to acknowledge that Aaron Burr had fathered John Pierre Burr and Louisa Charlotte Burr, and that all their descendants were legitimate members of the Burr family dating back to Jehue Burr, Sr., who arrived in this country in 1630.  Both Aaron Burr and Mary Eugenie Beauharnais Emmons, the mother of the two children, lived at The Hermitage during the Revolutionary War.

DuckDuckGo Testing its Privacy-centric Mac browser

Ridgewood NJ, DuckDuckGo has revealed a desktop browser that features a tracker blocker, email protection, and a button that closes all tabs and wipes browser data with a single click. The browser’s Smarter Encryption feature will help users use HTTPS more often. It can automatically clear cookie consent pop ups while rejecting as much tracking as possible. The browser is currently only available on Mac in an invite-only beta.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services announces the passing of Eugene “Gene” Connors :
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugene “Gene” Connors on April 13th at the age of 78 years old. Gene was a member of Ridgewood Emergency Services for the past 13 years, as both an EMT and a Special Operations member. Gene volunteered thousands of hours to the Village and was the recipient of the “Top Call” award in 2009. In August 2021, Gene became an Inactive Life Member. This is an honor for those members who have provided continuous dedicated service to the department for over 10 years. Gene had joined our department after retiring from his career as a school teacher. Gene had an active interest in sailing and also volunteered with The American Red Cross.
