Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association celebrated two classes of Distinguished Alumni on March 23, 2022 at Park West Tavern Loft in Ridgewood. The inductees included Tony Award winning actor, Ali Stroker (2005), Congressional Gold Medal winner, Thomas Hawkins (1942), lifetime educator, Dr. Deborah Thomas (1971), World-Renowned Cardiologist, Dr. Ajay Kirtane (1990) & tech pioneer and entrepreneur, Dave Duffield (1958). Below showcases more details about these five extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to society through their personal lives, individual passions, talents, professional accomplishments and/or community service.

Bergen County Sets Goal to Have EV Charging Stations in Every County Park and at Every Public County Facility

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco participated in the Bergen Volunteer Center’s Friday Forum “SUPERCHARGED” on the topic of electric vehicles. Transitioning away from combustion engines to alternative fuel vehicles (AFV’s) is an important step towards reducing emissions, yet, up until 2021, it was nearly impossible for counties and local municipalities to procure AFV’s including of hybrid, electric, hydrogen, and fuel cell vehicles through capital funds. Being a priority for my administration, our team at the County had been working with the Bergen legislative delegation since 2018 to change NJ fiscal bond law to allow these purchases just like any other SUV or truck and thankfully the change was signed into law last November.

Apple Store employees had to use pen and paper to keep the stores running during the outage. All services have been restored.

English Teenager Mastermind of International Hacking Group

Ridgewood NJ, Cybersecurity researchers investigating the recent Lapsus$ attacks have identified seven accounts associated with the hacking group. A 16-year-old living with his mother in England is believed to be the mastermind of the group. Rival hackers had posted his details online. The attacks were believed to be motivated in part by the desire for notoriety as the group didn’t try to cover its tracks and made public announcements.

Multi-vehicle Crash in Paramus on Route 17 South Hospitalize Three

Paramus NJ, on Friday the Paramus Police Officers investigated a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 South in the area of Route 4 this afternoon. During the crash which involved a horse trailer and a funeral home livery vehicle an ejection of mortal remains occurred. Three people were hospitalized with none of the injuries being reported as serious. The horse from the trailer escaped uninjured.

Indiana Man Convicted of Online Enticement of a NJ Minor and Child Porn

TRENTON NJ, a Lebanon, Indiana, man was convicted today on four counts of sex offenses, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Randal Wise, 45, was convicted of attempted online enticement of a minor, transportation of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and attempted transfer of obscenity to a minor following a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp.

Englewood Credit Consultant Faces Drug and Money Laundering Charges

Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of OSCAR HOLGUIN (DOB: 08/03/1979; single; credit consultant) of 3301 River View Avenue, Englewood, NJ on drug-related charges.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Sunday Night DWI Crash Shuts Down Broadway East in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, on Sunday March 20th the Fair Lawn Police temporarily diverted traffic on Broadway East and 30th street because of a motor vehicle crash. It appears the operator struck a parked car causing their vehicle to turn on its side. The operator is suspected of being under the influence (DWI) and is being brought to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today announced his intention to nominate Carlos A. Medina, Esq, Kiabi Carson, and Evan Weiss to the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors. The Governor will also directly appoint Rashonda Brown and Karen Thomas to serve on the board. As the Murphy Administration continues to improve and invest in NJ TRANSIT, the new members will bring “fresh and diverse” perspectives to the Board.
