The declaration will allow individuals in the approved counties to register at www.disasterassistance.gov for direct federal assistance for Ida-related recovery, which may include home repairs, temporary housing, low-cost loans, and other programs to help recover from the effects of the tropical storm.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT customers are welcome to once again use NJ TRANSIT indoor waiting rooms at rail stations that are not staffed with ticket agents beginning Tuesday, September 7th. Waiting rooms were temporarily closed as a precaution to protect customers and employees against the spread of COVID-19. The station waiting rooms will be open for the same hours they were prior to the pandemic. Waiting rooms with staffed ticket windows have been open since September 2020.

Ridgewood NJ, Paul Vagianos is a candidate for election in November to fill the unexpired Village Council. term of Bernadette Walsh (who resigned due to a pending relocation out of state). Mr. Vagianos is a past president of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Village’s Central Business District Advisory Committee (CBDAC). He owns and operates the It’s Greek to Me restaurant on East Ridgewood Avenue and owns a commercial property on South Broad Street that houses the Pearl restaurant.

Myers today announced AccuWeather has increased its estimate of total damage and economic loss from Hurricane Ida from $70-80 billion, which AccuWeather issued on Monday, to about $95 billion or one-half of a percent of the national gross domestic product, meaning Ida will cause a notable negative impact on the U.S. economy for the third and fourth quarter.

Ridgewood NJ, Apple is rumored to be visiting several car manufacturers in Asia to mass-produce a branded car by 2024. The company will likely make its EV batteries in the US, but it might seek partnerships with established vehicle makers to do so. Apple is developing a new battery design to reduce the cost of batteries and increase the vehicle’s range. While Apple aims to begin production in 2024, the ongoing global health crisis and current chip shortage could cause delays.
