Please note this is not an emergency; these drills are performed by Ridgewood EMS, Ridgewood Fire Department and Graydon lifeguard staff to ensure that they are prepared for any future emergencies.

Bruck today announced that the Bureau of Securities has issued a Summary Cease and Desist Order to stop a financial services company based in Jersey City from selling unregistered securities in the form of interest-earning cryptocurrency accounts that have raised at least $14.7 billion worldwide.

Ridgewood NJ, Fakespot, an app that removes fake product reviews from Amazon, has been removed from the Apple App Store due to a takedown request from Amazon. Amazon says that the app could theoretically be exploited to steal customer data. The app requires users to enter their Amazon logins in order to browse the website through a custom overlay. Apple claims that the removal was due to a dispute over intellectual property rights and that it had warned Fakespot about the issue weeks before the app’s removal. The Android version of the app hasn’t been updated since 2019.

Ridgewood NJ, French startup Gourmey has produced foie gras in the lab and plans to set up a production facility in central Paris to produce it in large quantities. Farmed foie gras is controversial, with many countries banning the practice. However, it is still a prized delicacy, especially in France. There is a ready market for ethical foie gras alternatives. Gourmey plans to eventually produce a full range of lab-grown meats. It recently received $10 million in funding from a group of venture capital firms.

Paramus NJ, Tesla’s Full Self Driving package is now available for $199 a month, except for Tesla owners who purchased the Enhanced Autopilot package, who can get it for $99 a month. The package can be canceled at any time. Tesla owners who don’t have the required hardware for the package can upgrade their vehicles for $1,500 to make them FSD-ready. The FSD software still requires active driver supervision.

Glen Rock NJ, Hoboken bound train service on NJ Transit’s Bergen Line was suspended briefly on Tuesday afternoon, 7/20, due to a downed tree limb blocking a track in Glen Rock. The limb fell from a tree located behind a home in the 100 block of Glen Ave shortly before 1 PM. A nearby homeowner notified Glen Rock Police, they in turn notified NJ Transit. A maintenance of way crew responded quickly and removed the blockage using chain saws. Full train service was restored by 1:30 PM. No injuries were reported.

Hoboken NJ, Democrats’ odds to win the 2021 New Jersey Gubernatorial Election have worsened since last month, according to betting industry analysts at USsportsbonus.com (See Disclaimer Below). In mid-June, Democrats were the 1/15 favorites to win (93.8% implied probability), but those odds have since worsened to 1/10 (90.9%).
