Congressman Van Drew Warns Increase in New Jersey’s Sales Tax Will Make the State Even Less Affordable

Trenton NJ, Congressman Van Drew voiced strong opposition to tax hikes proposed by the New Jersey Policy Perspective, warning that the suggested measures would make the state less affordable and drive more residents to leave the state. The think tank’s report calls for reversing a prior tax cut, which brought New Jersey’s sales tax rate down from 7% to 6.625% and would expand the scope of sales tax to include professional services such as attorneys and accountants.

Hudson Street Parking Garage update – Security guard now stationed on 4th floor nightly

Ridgewood  NJ, we’ve received several reports during over the past few weeks about a security guard being stationed nightly on the top floor of the Hudson Street Parking garage. One of the individuals who contacted us said the security guard claimed the Village was paying for the service, which is said to be in place from 7PM until 1AM every day of the week. Adult residents taking photos of the moon, comets, and the Northern Lights from the 4th floor have reported being asked to leave by the security guard.

Palisades Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 28-year-old HUGO R. PAZ-LAJUJ of Fort Lee, NJ on charges stemming from a hit-and-run accident. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain James Rotundo.

Though these tunnels are already tolled by the Port Authority, New York’s plan would add an additional fee aimed at reducing traffic congestion in lower Manhattan while raising funds for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
