Electric Line Catches Fire In Ridgewood after Lightning Strike

Ridgewood NJ, at least one (1) single family home was evacuated on Gateway Road, Ridgewood late Saturday afternoon, 09/09 when a “hot” primary electric line apparently caught fire after being hit by lightning, fell to the ground, and continued to burn. Ridgewood firefighters became concerned that heat from the fire could ignite an underground gas service line to a nearby home and ordered the family to evacuate it as a precaution. Firefighters were awaiting the arrival of technicians from PSE&G’s separate gas and electric divisions to assist with remediating the situation. Ridgewood Police assisted with traffic and crowd control.

Paramus NJ, Paramus EMS transported one (1) victim to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus following a two (2) vehicle, Saturday afternoon collision at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Midland Avenue. The victim reportedly sustained non life threatening arm and facial injuries. Both vehicles, a Honda CRV and a Tesla, were towed from the scene. Paramus Police and the Paramus Police Reserves also responded.

Ridgewood Drops Home Opener to Clifton

Ridgewood NJ, on 9/8, the Ridgewood football team dropped their home opener in a non-conference game against Clifton (NJ) by a score of 28-21.  After about a 90-minute thunderstorm delay the game finally kicked off a little before 8:00. With Clifton leading in the final quarter a late interception shuts down the maroons drive.

The 28th Annual Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Car Show

Ridgewood NJ, the rain stopped  just before 5 pm and the 28th Annual Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Car Show  despite thunder a and a little early drizzle was good to go .  Over 350 cars , visitors from all over the tri- state area descended the the central business district  to see the cars ,visit friends and enjoy a nice family friendly night in the Village of Ridgewood .

Ridgewood NJ,  Jets and Giants fans can skip the driving and parking with NJ TRANSIT’s BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line service to MetLife Stadium.  Beginning this Sunday night, September 10 with the Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys and continuing through the season, NJ TRANSIT will be offering train service on the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line to and from Secaucus Junction for every Jets or Giants home game.

Fair Lawn NJ, an early Friday afternoon, 09/08, water main break resulted in the complete closure of an access ramp to and from northbound Route 208, and the relocation of ambulances belonging to the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The break occurred at the intersection of Plaza Road and Cooper’s Way shortly before 12:30 PM. Water flow was quickly shut down, but not before it had created a gaping hole in the highway access ramp, which also limited access to the nearby Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps headquarters/garage. Fair Lawn Police officers provided traffic control throughout the repair process
