Two Vehicle Collision in Fair Lawn Sends One Victim to the Hospital

Fair Lawn NJ, one (1) injury was reported following a two (2) vehicle Wednesday morning, 07/19, collision at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and 5th Street, Fair Lawn. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Ridgewood NJ, saying the Summer is here and there is no better time to enjoy all the Village has to offer than these next few weeks . Mayor Paul Vagianos offered a big  shout out to Nancy Bigos, Director of Parks and Recreation and her staff, who have worked hard to ensure that Graydon Pool, one of Ridgewood’s best amenities, is fully staffed with lifeguards for the first time since the pandemic.   We’re one of the only communities that still has a natural-fed pool, one that helps create fond summer memories for so many families.

Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded a Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded $263,725 in federal funding from the Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) after an arduous application process. These funds were specifically awarded to replace Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units that have reached their end of life.

NJ State Police Assumes Control of New Jersey Port from Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, and New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Patrick Callahan announced that as of Monday, July 17 the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Port Security Section (PSS) has officially taken over the regulatory and law enforcement duties previously held by the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor (WCNYH) within New Jersey. The WCNYH was formed in 1953 under a bi-state compact between New Jersey and New York.

Ridgewood NJ, at the end of June, Chief Jacqueline Luthcke retired from our force after more than 25 years of service to Ridgewood.  Police Captain Forest “Cenzo” Lyons was sworn in as Chief and took over on July 1.  A member of our department for 21 years, with deep roots in Ridgewood .

Ridgewood NJ, we’d like to know the name of the Village employee who decided it was okay to block off nine revenue-generating, premium parking spaces every Sunday through Friday so that the vehicle stop barriers used when the pedestrian plaza is set up on Saturday could be kept nearby.

Vehicle Mishap Puts SUV on Front Lawn of Village of Ridgewood Home

Ridgewood NJ, no injuries were reported following a late Tuesday afternoon, 07/18, single vehicle crash at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Pershing Avenue, Ridgewood. The driver of a Mazda SUV veered off of the roadway, mounted a curb, rolled over a pedestrian crossing sign, and drove over a sidewalk before the vehicle came to rest on the front lawn of a nearby single family home. Despite evidence that the vehicle sustained significant crash related damage to its undercarriage, it was driven away on its own power. Ridgewood Police investigated the mishap.

Falling Tree Branch Crushes Car in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult couple from Rockland County, NY escaped injury when a large tree branch fell onto their Honda SUV late Tuesday afternoon, 07/18. The accident occurred in the 300 block of South Irving Street, Ridgewood. A tow truck removed the totaled SUV from the scene. Ridgewood Police responded to the incident.  No Injuries reported.

New Jersey Transit Police Officer Renders life Saving Aid at Severe Crash⁣⁣ on Route 21 in Newark

Newark NJ, On Wednesday, July 12, NJTPD K9 Officer Michael Brown was traveling north on Route 21 in Newark. He saw a violent motorcycle accident unfold. The motorcycle’s operator was ultimately thrown over a guardrail. The operator was severely injured and suffered a large, traumatic chest wound. His rib cage and vital organs were exposed, and he showed signs of a collapsed lung. Officer Brown knew the man would perish without intervention.⁣⁣

Dumont NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ESVIN DUARTE-SIMON (DOB: 6/23/1990; single; laborer) of 325 E. Madison Avenue, Dumont, NJ. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Ridgefield Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Gallagher.
