June Kicks off the Summer Season in the Village of Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, the Pedestrian Plaza in the Village of Ridgewood’s Central Business District will be on Saturdays and Sundays from June 3-October 9, 2023 – Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from Walnut Street to Broad Street, along East Ridgewood Avenue. There will be music and entertainment in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square on Saturday night and Sunday. Each month will be culturally themed, and there will be special activities for children. Please plan to come and shop, dine, and enjoy the entertainment this summer.

Ridgewood NJ, Bergen County Historic Preservation Specialist weighs in on the acquisition of 510 West Saddle River Road and the Trust Fund Executive agrees. Now the Village of Ridgewood has to spend more money on yet another Expert Historical Assessment, the Schedler Project is again delayed, and 510 West Saddle River Road property will most likely be deemed historical as well. The Village Council Majority keeps taxing residents in every way.

Looks Like We Have a Debt Deal

Washington DC, looks like we have a debt deal.  The compromise announced late Saturday includes a two-year budget deal that would essentially hold spending flat for 2024, while boosting it for defense and veterans, and capping increases at 1% for 2025. That’s alongside raising the debt limit for two years, pushing the volatile political issue past the next presidential election.

Ridgewood Resident Completes 85 Hour Run Across NJ to Fight Hunger

Ridgewood NJ , as previously reported on the Ridgewood blog  on May 18, retired Fairview Police Chief and Run for Hope Foundation Founder Frank DelVecchio will embark on a 200-mile solo run across the State of New Jersey to fight hunger and food insecurity. DelVecchio will begin this multi-day venture at High Point State Park in Sussex County and make his way to New Jersey’s southernmost tip in Cape May.

Friday Night Fire in River Edge Displaces Family as Sections of the Home Collapse

River Edge NJ, Friday night around 0140 hours,River Edge Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire on Eastbrook drive. Upon arrival, units found not only the attached garage but the house and several vehicles to be well involved, River Edge Volunteer Fire Department as well as surrounding towns worked to extinguish the blaze. No injuries reported as all residents of the home were safely evacuated. Several sections of the home collapsed as a result of the large fire.
