Pew survey: Americans and many Europeans gloomy about economy, but the Chinese are sunny about theirs.

By PAUL WISEMAN, AP Economics Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans, Japanese and many Europeans are glum about their national economies. By contrast, Chinese, Indians and Australians feel positive about theirs.

Those are among the findings from a survey of 20,132 people in 16 countries by the Pew Research Center. Just 44 percent of Americans rated the U.S. economy as “good,” although that proportion has risen steadily from 18 percent in 2011.

Orlando Shooters Father Attends Hillary Rally , Disparages Gays ,Endorses Hillary

Omar Mateen, Terrorist Who Attacked Orlando Gay Club

Seddique Mateen seen sitting right behind Clinton

Tory Dunnan

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Hillary Clinton spoke to a crowd in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando.  She was supposed to be talking jobs, but started the speech off paying tribute to those affected by the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

“I know how many people, families, loved ones, and friends are still grieving, and we will be with you as you rebuild your lives.”

WPTV happened to notice the man, who has a mustache and was wearing a red hat, behind Clinton. It was Seddique Mateen , the father of Orlando mass shooter Omar Mateen.

NewsChannel 5 asked Mateen what he was thinking about when Clinton spoke about the Orlando incident.

“We’ve been cooperating with the federal government, and that’s about it,” he said. “Thank you.”  Mateen didn’t want to answer any other questions, but just hours later, we ran into him by chance at a rest stop on the way back to West Palm Beach.  He wanted to do an interview and show us a sign he made for Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump, who has no solutions,” he said.

What has the Orlando gunman’s father said?

Last Updated Jun 13, 2016 2:14 PM EDT

The Orland gay club gunman’s father has well-known anti-American views and is an ideological supporter of the Afghan Taliban. A new message posted by the father on Facebook early Monday morning also makes it clear he could have passed anti-homosexual views onto his son.

Seddique Mir Mateen, father of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, who died in a shootout with police after killing at least 49 people early Sunday morning, regularly attended Friday prayers at a Florida mosque with his son.

Details on suspected Orlando gunman Omar Mateen

In the video posted early Monday, Seddique Mateen says his son was well-educated and respectful to his parents, and that he was “not aware what motivated him to go into a gay club and kill 50 people.”

The elder Mateen says he was saddened by his son’s actions during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He then adds: “God will punish those involved in homosexuality,” saying it’s, “not an issue that humans should deal with.”

State agency holding special meeting on American Dream Meadowlands financing

THE RECORD

The board of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority has been called into session on Tuesday for a special meeting regarding the issuance $1 billion in bonds sale that would help fund the completion of the American Dream Meadowlands shopping and entertainment project.

It is the second year that the board has been called into session in August for the same purpose. A year ago, the project’s developer, Triple Five, requested the meeting because its executives said the Bergen County Improvement Authority — which had been scheduled to issue a segment of the bonds — would not be able to finalize its approvals within the 30- to 60-day window in which they said the bonds needed to be issued.

After stinging loss, teachers’ new pension plan may begin with revenge

Steve-Sweeney-Atlantic-City-finances

TRENTON — With a ballot question asking voters to constitutionally guarantee state payments into the public worker pension fund dead on arrival this year, the head of the state’s largest teachers’ union suggested  that Senate PresidentStephen Sweeney’s likely 2017 gubernatorial campaign will meet the same fate.

Wendell Steinhauer, president of the New Jersey Education Association, stopped short on Monday of calling Sweeney’s refusal to post the measure for a vote ahead of a Monday’s deadline to get it on the ballot this year a deal breaker.

But he was also clear about the NJEA’s priorities — more specifically, its top agenda item.

“Our No. 1 priority has been passing this constitutional amendment,” Wendell said.

“I’m telling you that we will certainly send out a questionnaire to all of the candidates and we will screen all of them,” he said. “But we are definitely going to get involved in the primaries this year.”

Reader says public-sector labor unions are attempting to influence the legislative process with campaign donations? Wow, there’s a surprise!

Sweeney & Prieto

The NJEA, FOP and other public-sector labor unions are attempting to influence the legislative process with campaign donations? Wow, there’s a surprise. Union thugs have destroyed NJ’s economy and made property taxes so unreasonable that the state suffers from net migration out and an economy that lags the recovery in surrounding states. The unions and their paid-for cheerleaders in Trenton are 100% to blame, they are driven by shameless greed.

Green Acres is Funding a Business in Ridgewood’s Irene Habernickel Family Park?

Ridgewood NJ, Green Acres Mission:To achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment. The Green Acres Program was created in 1961 to meet New Jersey’s growing recreation and conservation needs. Together withpublic and private partners, Green Acres has protected over half a million acres of open space and provided hundreds of outdoor recreational facilities in communities around the State.

It is actually a green acres property where in the by laws it states “no for profit ” business in the park. It is not a junk park it is becoming one because of the business placed there. It is actually a beautiful park that half of it is used for town sports and the smaller parcel is actually used by many many people to take a nice passive walk without constantly being around children and noise. Why can’t the seniors in town have some place to go that is quiet? And of course neighbors are upset with a business being there especially when it does not benefit Ridgewood in any way!!

But according to northjersey.com it was approved by Green Acres.

“The village then consulted with a real estate professional to get a recommended baseline bid, posted multiple real estate listings and held open houses to find a new tenant. Before moving forward with a new lease, the village received approval from Green Acres since the land was purchased using grant money.”

So I guess the real question is ,is Green Acres just a scam?
