Oradell NJ, sad news to report authorities confirmed that the body of Mark Schlegel, the talent agent from Oradell who has been missing for 11 days, has been discovered.
A Bergen County official confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the body of the missing man had been discovered.
Schlegel, 57, who worked for the Manhattan-based Cornerstone Talent agency had been missing since Sunday. Aug 13. He was last seen near Soldier Hill Road. According to reports a bloodhound detected his scent near a bus stop , while other reports suggest and officer found the body near Kinderkamack Road.
Paramus NJ, he’s back , speculation swirls as Steve Lonegan will announce his bid for US Congress NJ-5. The New Jersey Fifth Congressional District is currently represented by Democrat Josh Gottheimer who defeated long time Congressmen Scott Garrett . The district is composed of parts of Bergen , Passiac ,Sussex and Warren counties.
Lonegan’s announcement comes today August 24,2017 at the Courtyard Marriott in Paramus at 11am and promises to add fireworks to what is being billed as a very expensive and hotly contested seat.
Lonegan has gone up against long odds before when successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the highest mountains in the world in December 2015 on a three week trip to Tanzania, Africa .

He is member of the Republican Party, Lonegan was named the New Jersey State Chairman for the Ted Cruz for President campaign in June 2015. He also served as a national spokesman for the campaign and appeared on various news outlets such as Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, and MSNBC.
His resume is outstanding ,Lonegan was Director of Monetary Policy for the American Principles Project , where he served as the organization’s national spokesman on monetary policies of the Federal Reserve System and directed the Fix the Dollar project until January 2016.
Lonegan lectured across the country to a range of audiences on the history of money and current monetary policy conditions. On February 27, 2015, Lonegan led a team of economists and conservative think tank leaders into a meeting with Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen and Federal Reserve officials at the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Federal Reserve System.
In August 2015, through American Principles Project, Lonegan hosted an international monetary conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that included leaders from around the world and was held directly opposite the Federal Reserve’s annual economic symposium.
Lonegan also served as the State Director of the New Jersey chapter of Americans for Prosperity and was an unsuccessful candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor of New Jersey in 2005 and 2009. This is absurd, unless her audience was astrophysicists who use the equipment.
Coverage gap … As I mentioned last week, Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., is scheduled for trial on corruption charges on September 6, 2017. The jury selection in that trial starts today. While local newspapers like the NY Times and local television stations have covered jury selection, cable networks have been eerily silent. American Commitment president Phil Kerpen asks an important question on Twitter: “Any networks doing stand ups outside Menendez’s jury selection this morning?” I wouldn’t hold my breath, Phil.
What bombing plot? … Yesterday, a man was arrested for allegedly trying to blow up a confederate statue in Houston. According to NewsBusters, none of the broadcast networks covered the case. If this was someone they could pin to the Right, you know it would have been covered.
NEWARK, N.J. – Sen. Bob Menendez said Tuesday that he expects to be exonerated of federal bribery charges, as lawyers began picking the jurors who will decide his fate in a trial set to begin next month.
“Looking forward to picking a good jury,” the New Jersey Democrat told reporters as he arrived at the federal courthouse here, flanked by his lawyers.
His arrival just before 9:30 a.m. set off a day in which U.S. District Judge William H. Walls, prosecutors, and Menendez’s defense team worked to winnow the pool of about 200 prospective jurors to the 12 men and women and four alternates who will hear the case.
Whatever verdict the panel reaches – after a trial expected to last one to two months — has the potential to reverberate far beyond the courtroom. Should Menendez be convicted, it almost certainly would mean the end of his four-decade political career in New Jersey and could dramatically shift the makeup of the Senate.

New Jersey’s pension system is failing, and it is going to take a lot of good people down with it.
That sad fact adds a touch of poignancy – along with a dash of frustration – to the latest bad news on the state’s finances. The Mercatus Center, a think tank based at George Mason University, recently rated New Jersey’s state finances as the worst in the country.
While some of the data might seem obscure to non-accountants, the problems are all too straightforward – over-promising and underfunding. Successive administrations and legislative majorities of both parties have made overgenerous commitments, then failed to fund them, leaving a tab that the state’s future taxpayers cannot possibly cover.
New Jersey’s public pension crisis is a stark case in point. With more than $235 billion in unfunded liabilities – $26,000 for every man, woman and child – the state’s retirement system is among the worst in the nation. And while you’re reading this, the problem – decades in the making – is getting worse.
Camden NJ, in a test for New Jersey’s current bail reform laws a US district court will hear oral arguments in the on Tuesday, August 22 at 3:00 PM in the case of Holland v. Rosen. The case concerns a Dallas Cowboys football fan involved in a bar fight, who claims he was denied his constitutional right to bail by a New Jersey judge.
Filed by former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement on behalf of Brittan Holland and Lexington National Insurance Corporation, which represents others in Holland’s situation, the suit maintains that New Jersey’s current bail reform laws are illegal. Clement, widely regarded as one of the greatest constitutional litigators in recent history, contends that bail is guaranteed in the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution.
The case brings a different perspective to New Jersey’s controversial bail reform laws which took effect on January 1. The outcome of the case may have an impact on bail laws throughout the country.
The class action suit of Holland v. Rosen will be heard in oral arguments in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey before Judge Jerome B. Simandle.
Dallas Cowboys football fan Brittan Holland was arrested and charged following an argument and fight with a Philadelphia Eagles fan in Winslow Township on April 6. He was subsequently ordered to be released wearing a GPS ankle monitor pending his trial.
His release imposed upon him by these specific conditions, Holland claims he was denied the option of bail, to which he should have been guaranteed in the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution. Because he was forced to wear the bulky ankle bracelet — “a modern-day scarlet letter,” the suit reads — his “liberty is sharply curtailed…he cannot shop for food or basic necessities and cannot take his son to baseball practice.”
The suit contends that this action reflected the unlawfulness of New Jersey’s bail reform laws, which took effect on January 1. Intended to make things fairer for defendants who lack the financial resources to be bailed out, the new system calls for judges to utilize a risk assessment tool to determine whether to hold defendants in jail or release them on a simple promise to appear.
Former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement filed the suit on behalf of the fan and Lexington National Insurance Corporation, which represents others in Holland’s situation. Clement is expected to be present for the hearing.
Oradell NJ, police remain baffled over the disappearance of talent agent Mark Schlegel, who last was seen leaving his New Jersey home more than a week ago.
“There’s been no contact from him or with anybody who knows his possible whereabouts,” Oradell Sgt. Derek Kahill tells nj.com. “There’s a lot of concern in general.”
Schlegel, 57, who works for CornerStone Talent Agency in Manhattan, has a client list that includes Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Daniel Sunjata (The Dark Knight Rises) and Dominic Chianese (The Sopranos), among others. He has been with CornerStone since 2002.
Schlegel last was seen at about 3:30 PM Sunday, August 13, leaving his Oradell home, heading toward a road three blocks away, carrying a gift bag. Oddly he did not have his keys, phone or wallet in his possession, police said.
Police have searched several areas of Oradell on foot and also have interviewed his colleagues for any leads. Police Issued two Nixle alerts last week to residents about Schlegel’s disappearance. So far, his disappearance remains a mystery.

Our quiet, serene, beautiful and peaceful neighborhood on Van Emburgh Avenue stretching from Washington Township into Ridgewood and made up of 100 percent single family homes is about to be shattered by a court-ordered imposition of a 44-unit apartment complex. This mandate is to satisfy some nebulous rules about complying with Affordable Housing politically-correct social engineering forced on our town by the state.
I spoke against this mandate at a recent Township of Washington Planning Board for the following reasons: Many of the Township and Village residents moved here specifically to get away from densely-packed areas which have multi-family complexes.
The construction mud and noise pollution will disrupt our peaceful lives and enshroud us in a cloud of dust and dirt probably for something like two years. The now-empty land parcel they are plopping this monstrosity in is practically across the street from Immaculate Heart Academy High School. This will mean that the dozens and dozens of parents who drop their daughters off at school each morning will now be competing in traffic with arriving construction workers — excavators, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, roofers, painters, sheetrockers and landscapers, etc.
Since most people nowadays have two cars, and are two-worker households, that will mean that 88 more cars belonging to potential residents will join the traffic during the early mornings; and that number of cars doesn’t even include arriving faculty.
The loud sounds of earth movers, bulldozers, backhoes, bucket loaders, cement trucks and dump trucks as well as huge rigs delivering lumber, massive sanitary and storm pipes, roofing supplies, siding and landscaping materials will disrupt our peaceful existence.
Even if 12 of the residents of the 44-unit apartment complex have children, that means 100 brand new instant neighbors on our street.
The trouble with politically-correct mandated solutions to social concerns is that they don’t take into consideration the impact on the existing local governments. The prime example being the local school system population, police, fire, street sweeping and snow removal.
I want to urge the Township of Washington and The Village of Ridgewood to join Park Ridge and Hillsdale to put the question of “Affordable Housing” rules on the November ballot and put pressure on our state Legislature to straighten out the rules and regulations of these mandated nightmares.

River Vale NJ , Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi asks, “If the Democratic front runner for Governor boldly says NJ won’t comply with many federal laws he disagrees with, why can’t our suburban communities fight back against ridiculous NJ policies that the democratic controlled legislature refuses to change?”
Schepisi said she hopes to force change by guiding a movement of civil disobedience.
“We need more voices to be heard,” said Schepisi, an attorney. “No one I’ve spoken to is against affordable housing — everyone supports the idea,” she added. “What everyone objects to is high-density complexes thrust on small communities.”
Schepisi proposed legislation to impose a moratorium on lawsuits related to affordable housing and form a bipartisan commission to calculate the number of units needed to serve the state. Those bills have stalled.

WASHINGTON — The stakes for Sen. Bob Menendez’s corruption case have grown to national proportions.
More than two years since the Democrat was charged with allegedly trading influence for lavish gifts, his trial begins Tuesday in Newark, N.J. — with major implications for both a four-decade fixture in Garden State politics and the Democratic fight against President Trump’s agenda.
Menendez has vowed he will be vindicated at trial.
But if he is convicted and forced from office, the result could tilt Washington’s political balance by allowing Republicans to claim one more Senate seat as they push to rewrite the tax code and perhaps make another run at health care reform. That’s because Gov. Christie, in his final weeks in office, would have a chance to appoint Menendez’s replacement — almost certainly filling the reliably blue seat with a fellow Republican, at least temporarily.
The significance of that potential shift was illustrated in July, when the GOP’s health-care overhaul was blocked by a single vote.
“It potentially has enormous implications for the entire legislative agenda,” said Phil Kerpen, the head of the conservative lobbying group American Commitment.
New Jersey’s private-sector employment grew by nearly 10,000 jobs in July, following a revised gain of nearly 15,000 jobs in June, the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported recently.
The report, based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, found that total nonfarm wage and salary employment rose by 9,800 positions in July, while the June number was revised to 14,900 jobs gained, up from 10,600 estimated earlier.
“The economy and the recovery seem to have gained a bit of momentum after years of frustratingly slow growth,” Mark Vitner, senior economist at Wells Fargo, told NJBIZ. “It does seem that things have picked up, and we’ve had two months of strong job gains.”
Of those July jobs, 7,300 were added in the private sector, with the rest added in public positions. The state said private-sector employment is at a historic high.

Tax hikes for millionaires, hedge fund managers, large corporations and pot smokers anchor Democrat’s plan.
Phil Murphy’s proposed tax increases would raise roughly $1.3 billion a year, his spokesman told Observer on Thursday, releasing for the first time a cost estimate of the Democratic gubernatorial nominee’s plans to pay for a multitude of campaign promises.
A separate $80 million to $100 million would be generated through savings from reining in out-of-network health care costs for public workers covered by state plans, the spokesman said, for a total annual gain of $1.4 billion in revenue.
