Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police have issued a SCAM ALERT:” I just received a phone call on my personal cell where the caller ID indicated it was the Social Security Administration. A recorded voice told me there was a problem with my SSN and I needed to speak with an agent in order to prevent suspension of my benefits. I was transferred to a male with a foreign accent.
These scams are constantly evolving and becoming more sophisticated. Please educate yourself, family and friends. Education is the only way to avoid these scams. Be very very wary of any unsolicited calls asking for your personal info. Call the GRPD with any questions if you’re unsure.”

Englewood NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of JOSE RUBEN-GUTIERREZ (DOB: 11/21/1959; single; employed as a laborer) of Englewood, NJ, on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.

Prominent Bergen County Developer Indicted

Edgewater NJ,  The former CEO of Mariner’s Bank and an accomplice both were charged today for their roles in a scheme to obtain nominee loans from Mariner’s Bank, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Fred Daibes, the former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Mariner’s Bank, and Michael McManus, the CFO of Daibes Enterprises, a consortium of companies specializing in real estate development, were charged by a federal grand jury with one count of conspiracy to misapply bank funds and to make false entries to deceive a financial institution and the FDIC. Daibes, 61, of Edgewater, New Jersey, also was charged with five counts of misapplying bank funds, six counts of making false entries to deceive a financial institution and the FDIC, and one count of causing reliance on a false document to influence the FDIC. McManus, 61, of Madison, New Jersey, was charged with four counts of misapplying bank funds, one count of making false entries to deceive a financial institution and the FDIC, one count of causing reliance on a false document to the influence the FDIC, and two counts of loan application fraud. The defendants will have their initial appearances and arraignments at a later date.

3-alarm Fire on Franklin Turnpike Sends Waldwick Firefighter to Valley Hospital

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Fire department battled at 3-alarm structure fire at 96 Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick on Tuesday afternoon, 10/30. Mutual aid fire, police and EMS services responded from several neighboring communities to assist Waldwick Fire, Waldwick Police, and Waldwick EMS. One (1) firefighter was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with a non life threatening injury. Traffic on busy Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick was detoured while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Paramus High School Cross Country Runners Hit by Vehicle

Paramus NJ,  according to Paramus Police a driver struck two Paramus High School cross country runners knocking them to the ground and fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a red SUV  . The collision happened at around 4:30pm at the intersection of Haase Avenue and Spring Valley Road .  The runners returned to Paramus High School and recounted the incident to the school principal

The incident is under investigation by Paramus police’s traffic bureau. Anyone with information should call the Paramus Police Department at

Bergen County Launches Hackensack Transit Connector

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced the launch of the Hackensack Transit Connector bus routes, which will connect Hackensack’s train stations and bus terminal with the County Administrative complex. Joined by Bergen County Freeholders Tom Sullivan, Tracy Zur, Germaine Ortiz, and Mary Amoroso, Hackensack Mayor John Labrosse and Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino, and representatives from the New Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and the Hackensack Main Street Alliance, Tedesco applauded the partnership between local, county, state, and federal government for making this project possible. Using grant funding from the NJTPA, with additional funding provided by Bergen County, the transit connector routes will help reduce the number of personal vehicles on the roads and provide better public transit access to those without vehicles and individuals with mobility issues. There is no fee or residency requirement to use the transit connector.

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police Department  put out a reminder that New Jersey law requires drivers approaching stationary emergency vehicles, tow trucks, garbage trucks and other highway safety vehicles displaying red, blue and/or amber flashing lights to move over one lane or, if not safe to move over, then slow down below the posted speed limit.

Hackensack NJ, the Hackensack Office of Emergency Management  reported that Monday October 29th, 2018 a flight of 4 Navy F-18 jets landed at Teterboro airport approximately 10:30 AM.

The aircraft followed the same approach pattern that all civil aircraft use when landing at the airport.Communities near Teterboro noticed a brief period of elevated jet noise as these aircraft approach to land at the airport.
