Missing at Risk Man Found Safe by New Jersey Transit Police

Newark NJ, on Friday, 6/16, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Jonathan White was on patrol at Newark Penn Station. He observed a young man in need of assistance. The man was not able to care for himself and possessed limited ability to communicate. In addition to limited speech, there was also a language barrier. Subsequently, Officer Hector Martinez and Officer Fernando Candia assisted with translation. The man was believed to be missing. Food was provided for the man and the officers delved into an extensive search to locate his family.

In a true turn of irony New York City has sued Hyundai Motor (OTCPK:HYMTF) and Kia (OTCPK:KIMTF), alleging that the South Korean automakers were negligent and created a public nuisance by manufacturing vehicles “dangerously susceptible” to theft. Geez and we thought that was a product of bail reform and sanctuary state status?

New York Police Department Will Have Robots Patrolling in Manhattan Subway Stations this Summer

Recycling Plant Fire in Jersey City Shuts Down Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and Creates Major Smoke condition on NJ Turnpike

Jersey City NJ, a fire that started in a commercial area on Tuesday sparked several brush fires nearby. The blaze impacted the evening rush hour commute. The fire started Tuesday afternoon at Reliable Paper Recycling, located at 1 Caven Point Ave. It is considered one of the largest paper recycling plants in the tri-state area. The fire sent thick, black smoke into the air that could be seen for miles. Large flames were also seen coming off the blocks of recycled paper.

UK Study Revealed that the Four-day Workweek could be the Key to Success for Businesses and their Employees

Ridgewood NJ, an ongoing study conducted on 61 companies in the UK has revealed that the four-day workweek could be the key to success for businesses and their employees. 46% of the companies said productivity remained the same, 34% reported a slight improvement, and 15% reported a significant improvement. Employees reported higher levels of well-being and there was a significant drop in employee turnover. While many employees felt that they had to work faster, most did not feel a significant increase in workload. 56 of the 61 companies are continuing to implement the four-day workweek.

Tolls are going up on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway , Monday!

Ridgewood NJ, tolls are going up on Monday and reminded me of this toll sign from 1802 that’s in our collections. The inventory card notes it’s from the “Bergen Turnpike – Gate 5” and that it was discontinued in 1915. Received from the Board of Freeholders, 31-1/2” H, 25-1/2” W. “Excursions Rate” appears to be painted over and those carrying a heavy load w/2 horses pay more like trucks do today.
