Fair Lawn NJ, one (1) injury was reported following a two (2) vehicle Wednesday morning, 07/19, collision at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and 5th Street, Fair Lawn. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn residents are invited to attend a public availability session on Thursday, July 27 for an update on the Fair Lawn Well Field Superfund site, including a plan under
review by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to build a state-of-the-art groundwater treatment plant on 11th Street, in a location adjacent to the existing water storage tank.
Fair Lawn NJ, the Provident Bank branch at 12-79 River Road, Fair Lawn was held up by a lone individual at approximately 10:25 AM on Tuesday, 07/11. No weapon was shown in the bank and no one was otherwise injured. The perpetrator fled from the bank on foot with an unspecified amount of cash. Fair Lawn Police officers who canvassed the surrounding neighborhood later found a homeowner’s security camera had captured the individual entering a motor vehicle and driving away from the neighborhood. A license plate may have been visible in the video; an investigation is underway. Responders included Fair Lawn Police, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units, and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification.
Fair Lawn NJ, a multiple alarm Wednesday morning, 06/21, house fire in the 2500 block of Kipp Street, Fair Lawn drew a large fire department response. The fire, which reportedly started in the home’s kitchen, was quickly knocked down by Fair Lawn Fire Department. Heavy black smoke from the blaze could be seen blocks away. No injuries were reported.
Fair Lawn NJ, an two “adult male” pedestrians miraculously escaped injury late Friday afternoon, 06/16, when he was struck by a Suffern bound NJ Transit passenger train as he attempted to cross the train tracks at Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn when the train was approaching. Fair Lawn Police and NJ Transit Police officers responded to the incident. The pedestrian refused to be evaluated by EMS personnel. Traffic on Fair Lawn Avenue was halted during the investigation process. Passengers on board the train at the time of the strike were discharged; some got into waiting automobiles, others boarded the next westbound train. No word as to whether NJ Transit Police issued the pedestrian a summons.

Fair Lawn NJ, the adult female driver of a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta was taken into custody by Fair Lawn Police patrol officers late Tuesday afternoon, 06/06, after failing a field sobriety test following a crash in which her vehicle struck two (2) parked passenger cars before rolling over in the 16-00 block of Pollitt Drive, Fair Lawn. No injuries were reported in the crash. Two (2) of the three (3) vehicles involved were towed from the scene. Fair Lawn Fire Department and Fair Lawn EMS also responded to the incident.
Fair Lawn NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of MICHAEL D’ANGELO (DOB: 7/09/1972; married; construction worker) of 115 E. 235th Street, Bronx, NY; DANIEL RUGGIERO (DOB: 12/17/1970; single; unemployed) of 65 Arnow Avenue, Bronx, NY; DOMINICK MEMOLI (DOB: 2/03/1966; single; construction worker) of 1201 Mace Avenue, Bronx, NY; BRUNO SIMONETTI (DOB: 8/18/1980; single; unemployed) of 390 Hutchinson Boulevard, Mount Vernon, NY; ERION BESHIRI (DOB: 1/14/1988; single; unemployed) of 2026 Haight Avenue, Bronx, NY; and SIAN STAFFORD (DOB: 6/29/1994; single; unemployed) of 412 Audubon Avenue, New York, NY on charges related to a home invasion in Fair Lawn, NJ that occurred in November 2022. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.

Fair Lawn NJ, an adult female wanted in connection with a Thursday evening, 05/18, stabbing was quickly apprehended by uniformed Fair Lawn police officers less than 1/2 mile away from the crime scene. The alleged 7:45 PM assault took place at the Craftsman Restaurant, 16-09 Maple Avenue, Fair Lawn. A Fair Lawn EMS ambulance transported the adult male victim, whose wounds appeared to have been non life threatening in nature, to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus.

Fair Lawn NJ, a 2-door Honda Accord slammed into a church located at 22-15 Broadway (westbound Broadway), Fair Lawn late Friday night, 05/05. The vehicle’s adult driver was treated at the scene by a Fair Lawn EMS crew and released at the scene. No apparent structural damage to the church was noted. However, one (1) or more traffic control barriers filled with dirt were damaged in the crash and dirt splattered all over the church’s front facing facade. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Honda from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, the Fair Lawn Police Department uniformed Patrol Division responded to a day care center located in the 10-00 block of Plaza Road, Fair Lawn on Wednesday morning, 05/03, in response to a telephone call from a staff member there reporting that a child unknown to anyone on the facility’s staff had been dropped off by an individual claiming to be a babysitter. Detectives were subsequently dispatched to the location to assist patrol officers with identifying the child and his/her parents. The child was successfully identified within one (1) hour, and an investigation determined that he/she was supposed to have been dropped off at a day care facility in the 19-00 block of Morlott Avenue, Fair Lawn (about 1 block away). Child and parents were reunited without incident about 90 minutes after the original call for police assistance was made.
