Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Fire Department responded to a sanitation truck fire at the Nabisco bakery, 22-11 Route 208, Fair Lawn, on Wednesday morning, 08/09. The truck had dumped the burning contents of its payload on the ground prior to the arrival of FD units. No injuries were reported in the incident. Fair Lawn and Hawthorne Police units also responded (the smoking truck was initially spotted on Route 208 in Hawthorne).
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police and EMS personnel rushed to aid an adult male bicyclist who was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and Well Drive on Friday afternoon, 08/04. The victim, who did not loose consciousness and sustained non life threatening injuries, was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for treatment. Police on the scene did not indicate whether any summonses were issued in connection with the incident.
Fair Lawn NJ, Ambulance transport to local hospitals was required for the drivers of both 4-door sedans involved in a Saturday afternoon, 07/29, rear end collision at the intersection of Dorothy Street and Morlot Avenue in Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn PD, EMS, and a paramedic team from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center responded to aid crash victims. A flatbed tow truck removed the two (2) wrecks from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, The Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue Squad used the “Jaws of Life” to free a woman who was trapped in her 4-door sedan after it collided with a work van at the intersection of Hemlock Avenue and Maple Avenue in Fair Lawn on Tuesday morning, 07/11. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. A second victim, a front seat passenger in the work van, also left the scene in an ambulance. He too sustained what appeared to have been non life threatening injuries. Fair Lawn PD and FD also responded along with mutual aid ambulances from three (3) separate EMS agencies. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Fair Lawn NJ , Fair Lawn firefighters battled a 3-alarm fire at 139 Lincoln Avenue, Fair Lawn that was reported late Friday morning, 07/07. The fire was reportedly started when a high tension electric power line fell outside of a Valley National Bank branch and quickly ignited a gas line to the building’s basement. All bank employees and customers were believed to have been safely evacuated from the building by Fair Lawn PD prior to the arrival of FD units. Mutual aid (MA) assistance, on the scene and firehouse standby, was provided by several FD agencies from Central Bergen MA and Northwest Bergen MA associations. Fair Lawn EMS was also on the scene.

Fair Lawn NJ, on Friday a bear climbed a tree in the backyard of a residential area, and would not come down.
For several hours, the 130-pound bear plopped on the tree branch, right in the middle of homes and office buildings near the very busy Fair Lawn Avenue.
Fair Lawn residents first reported it around 7 30 a.m. , as the word got out the tree bond bear drew quite a crowd .Dozens of staff members from animal control, New Jersey Fish and Wild Life, plus Fair Lawn Police and firefighters all teamed up to get him down safe and sound.
The reported 2-year-old bear was smarter than the average bear ,commuted from New York down Saddle River Trails. Several day ago the Ridgewood blog reported he was spotted Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood .
Finally, a wildlife expert loaded up the dart gun with tranquilizer then shot the bear as it slowly crawled down the tree and fell a few feet into a net. Animal control will be taking the bear to western New Jersey and releasing it back into the wild.
Fair Lawn NJ, At approximately 1:45 PM on Thursday, 05/25, Fair Lawn PD, EMS, FD, and Heavy Rescue personnel responded to a report of a chemical release with multiple injuries at Fair Lawn High School, 14-00 Berdan Avenue, Fair Lawn. Upon arrival, first responders observed that the entire building was being evacuated. The chemical was determined to have been pepper spray that had been released via canister in a stairwell of the building. Although there were reports of students choking and gasping for air, no one was transported to the hospital for treatment. Fair Lawn PD is investigating the source of the pepper spray canister.
Fair Lawn NJ, If you’re going to have a fender bender, there’s no more of a convenient place to have it than in front of an auto body shop. That’s exactly what happened on Wednesday afternoon, 05/10, when two (2) vehicles collided in front of Tri Boro Auto Body, 5-35 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Neither vehicle was extensively damaged, but one (1) driver experienced a serious medical condition that required him being transported to The Valley Hospital by ambulance. A paramedic team was dispatched to the incident, but released from the scene shortly after their arrival. Fair Lawn PD responded to aid the victim and to investigate the crash.
Ridgewood NJ, A three (3) vehicle, personnel. The crash involved two (2) moving passenger vehicles and a parked commercial truck. All victims evaluated by Fair Lawn EMS members declined ambulance transport to a hospital Rescue Squad personnel attended to a crash related fluid spill. Two (2) vehicles were removed from the scene by separate flatbed tow trucks. Banta Place was closed to vehicular traffic between Watkins Avenue and Raphael Street until the scene was cleared of wreckage.
Fair Lawn NJ, A crash between a 4-door Honda Civic and a multi-axle dump truck resulted in two (2) injuries, a hazmat incident, and the temporary closure of a portion of Route 208 northbound in Fair Lawn on Wednesday morning, 04/12. 65 gallons of diesel fuel that originated from a ruptured fuel tank on the dump truck were spilled on crash impact. A large portion of the spilled fuel remained on the roadway, but some entered a nearby storm drain. Fair Lawn PD, FD, EMS, and Heavy Rescue units responded to the incident. NJDOT and the Bergen County HazMat unit were also on the scene. Tow trucks removed both damaged vehicles from the highway. Northbound traffic was diverted onto Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. There was minor rubbernecking southbound. The crash victims sustained non life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital.
Fair Lawn NJ, A 16-year-old boy scared off a strange man he encountered inside his family’s kitchen in Fair Lawn,early Thursday morning.Local Police said the teen was getting a glass of water around 4:22 a.m. when he spotted the stranger in his home. The teen walked into the next room, and the man followed. Grabbing a baseball bat the teenager hit the man once in the arm. Police said the man took off, but not before dropping $160 and two passports .
Officials are still searching for the suspect, who they describe as a white male in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall with blue eyes and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a black wool hat, gloves and multiple layers of black clothing.

Fair lawn NJ, A driver exiting Broadway westbound at Plaza Road in Fair Lawn crashed through a fence and wound up in the back yard of a home on 26th Street late Saturday night, 03/18. The driver was not injured in the crash and no one was in the back yard at the time of impact. A flatbed tow truck removed the vehicle from its predicament. Fair Lawn PD responded to the incident. A garden/tool shed was also damaged in the mishap.
Fair Lawn NJ, No injuries were reported in connection with a Wednesday afternoon, 03/15, rollover crash on Broadway in Fair Lawn. The vehicle involved, a 4-door Saturn sedan, was righted and removed from the scene by a hydraulic lift tow truck. Fair Lawn FD Company #3 and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue responded to assist Fair Lawn PD. A Paramus PD ESU unit helped with traffic control. Traffic on a service road feeding Saddle River Road southbound was detoured until the crash scene was cleared.
Fair Lawn NJ, a multiple-alarm fire destroyed a single family home located at 11-06 Alexander Avenue in Fair Lawn on the morning of Saturday, 03/04. The fire reportedly started on an outside rear deck. Fair Lawn FD was assisted at the scene by firefighters from Saddle Brook FD. Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, Fair Lawn PD, and Fair Lawn EMS personnel were also put into service.
Glen Rock NJ, A house fire at 506 Prospect Street in Glen Rock on Monday evening, 02/20, was battled by firefighters from Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hawthorne, Midland Park, and Ridgewood. At least one (1) firefighter was injured while fighting the smokey blaze. Ridgewood EMS assisted Glen Rock EMS at the scene, and Ridgewood PD units assisted Glen Rock PD with traffic control.
