Hawthorne NJ, Track crews from NJ Transit worked late into Thursday night, 11/29, at the scene of a freight train derailment on the Main Line near Loretto Avenue in Hawthorne. According to posted reports, three (3) hopper cars of a seven (7) car freight train derailed shortly after 12 noon on Thursday. No injuries were reported, but plastic material from the cars was said to have spilled onto the tracks. Passenger trains on the Main Line were delayed on the average of 10-15 minutes throughout the day.

Glen Rock NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of CHRISTOPHER J. GREIG (DOB: 4/20/82, single; and unemployed) of 26 Parker Avenue, Hawthorne, New Jersey on charges of Stalking, Contempt Of A Stalking Restraining Order, Cyber-Harassment, and Harassment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Glen Rock Police Department under the direction of Chief Dean Ackermann.
Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Fire Department and Hawthorne Fire Department personnel rushed to Glen Rock Police Department headquarters, 1 Harding Plaza, Glen Rock on Thursday afternoon, 10/11, in response to a possible chemical spill within the building. Firefighters dressed in protective gear entered the building and removed at least two (2) containers of an unknown substance(s) found in a mechanical room. Glen Rock Police Lieutenant Frank Riggio stated that there were no injuries reported in the incident. He also said that it appeared as if one or more of the containers found by firefighters may have been leaking, causing the odor which triggered a phone call for Fire Department assistance.
Glen Rock NJ, October 5 , the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department reported that at 0222 hours this morning, GRFD was dispatched for a reported working fire on Sycamore Terrace. On arrival, Chief Jennings and Asst Chief Aguilar made entry into the basement and observed a heavy smoke condition. Engine 833 (Lt Pimlott) established a water supply and stretched a hand line. Ladder 832 (Capt Burbano) assisted with ventilation and overhaul as well as the rescue of two cats from the structure. Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit are currently asking for the public help in tracking down the alleged hit and run driver .Authorities need the public’s help finding a dark-colored SUV that they allege ran over and killed a Hawthorne man near the Ridgewood train station Monday night and kept going.
Social media has been very successful in spreading the word in helping police identify suspects and it does trouble us that as of 7:43 pm on Tuesday evening the Ridgewood Police department had still not posted anything on their Facebook page to help with the search . Paramus Police however posted at the article from the Daily Voice just before 7pm that same evening.
This is not the first time the Ridgewood Police have been slow to use social media and a similar pattern was followed after an Ridgewood officer was almost hit by a driver earlier this year .

Lincoln Park NJ, The New Jersey State Police have arrested Jimmy Correa, 40, of Lincoln Park, N.J. who was wanted for drug distribution and weapons possession charges in connection with a drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of drugs and gun from a storage facility in Fair Lawn Borough, N.J.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Fire department and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue units were dispatched to investigate a significant leak involving two (2) large steel cylinders containing chlorine gas at a Fair Lawn Water Department water treatment facility late Saturday morning, 09/15. Bergen County HazMat, Hawthorne Fire Department, and an ambulance from Saddle Brook were also on the scene at 9-14 Cadmus Place, Fair Lawn until the leak was contained. No injuries were reported, nor were there any evacuations ordered of area homes. A high school football game being played directly across the street from the plant was also unaffected by the gas release.
Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police responded to the Hawthorne Car Wash, 1112 Goffle Road, Hawthorne on Thursday morning around 10:30, 09/13, in response to a 911 telephone call from a car wash employee reporting that a vehicle had been driven into the car wash in the wrong direction, and was now stuck inside.
Hawthorne NJ, Two (2) vehicles collided at the intersection of Goffle Road and Warburton Avenue, Hawthorne early Tuesday evening, 09/11. Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne Fire Department, and Hawthorne EMS responded to aid at least two (2) individuals who were injured in the crash. One (1) accident victim, suspected of driving under the influence, was expected to be taken into custody by Hawthorne Police following his/her discharge from the hospital. Hawthorne Fire Department personnel assisted in extricating one (1) individual from a 4-door Volkswagen Jetta that sustained heavy front end damage, and attended to a crash related fluid spill. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the roadway.
Hawthorne NJ, Hawthrone Fire Department personnel rescued an adult female who was trapped in her vehicle after it veered off of the roadway and crashed into a creek at the intersection of Goffle Road and Route 208 northbound, Hawthorne on Tuesday evening, 09/11. Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne EMS also responded to the incident, along with mutual aid fire departments from several neighboring communities. The victim sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported by a Hawthorne BLS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A heavy duty wrecker winched the vehicle out of its predicament.
Fair Lawn NJ , The New Jersey State Police have arrested Wellingon Moya, 44, of New York, N.Y., and Douglas Watson, 41, of Hawthorne, N.J., and seized $375,000 worth of heroin and cocaine.
Trenton NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and the Division of Consumer Affairs today announced that 29 unlicensed movers have been issued Notices of Violation (“NOVs”) as a result of “Operation Mother’s Attic, a State-led undercover sting targeting public movers suspected of operating without licenses. Each unlicensed mover was also assessed a $2,500 civil penalty
The sting operation occurred over the course of four days in April 2018. Investigators from the Division’s Office of Consumer Protection (“OCP”) posed as individuals planning to move from an upscale neighborhood in Montville. The investigators found various unlicensed moving companies advertising online and hired them for their “move.” The movers drove to Montville, expecting to find a luxury home full of items to load, and were instead met by a team of OCP investigators, who issued them NOVs for operating without licenses.
Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Fire Department responded to a single family home on Austin Place, Glen Rock on Friday afternoon, 08/03 in response to a 911 telephone call reporting a tree falling through the lower roof of an occupied home. No injuries were reported in the incident, but the occupants of the home were asked to evacuate the structure. Glen Rock Police also responded, as did Hawthorne Fire Engine Company #4.
