Ridgewood NJ, in response to questions posed by at least two (2) members of the public during Monday night’s BOE meeting, Ridgewood Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Schwarz and BOE President Sheila Brogan both publicly said this – “No public or private meetings” were held between any BOE representative(s) and anyone from the Village of Ridgewood concerning preparation of the recent application for development of the Schedler property. In short, the application was prepared & submitted without the BOE’s input or review.

Ridgewood NJ, the Sunlight Policy Center of New Jersey released their latest report today, entitled The NJEA vs. Local Unions: The Local Unions Make and the NJEA Takes.  The report examines the relationship between the statewide New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) and the hundreds of affiliated local unions around the Garden State and finds that only 12 percent of New Jersey teachers’ dues return home.

The event took place at the prestigious Sarasota Opera in Sarasota, Florida.

Ridgewood Sophomore Places 5th In Bergen County Individual Golf Championship

Ridgewood NJ, the boys #GolfMaroons finished 3rd in North 1 Group 4, tying for 5th in the County Tournament. Sophomore Braden Bhalla is pictured making his last putt on the 18th hole (36th total hole) at White Beeches CC in the Bergen County Individual Championship and he claimed 5th overall with a total score of 146. He also represented RHS in the State Tournament of Champions, finishing 6th in Group 4 and tied for 30th overall.

Benjamin Franklin Middle School Pauses to Remember as Country Remembers Upcoming 80th Anniversary of D-Day

Ridgewood NJ, Benjamin Franklin Middle School students were reminded today of the real reason behind Memorial Day when members of American Legion 53 joined the students at the school’s annual Memorial Day Remembrance event. Each year the school selects a veteran to highlight. But, this year, the event highlighted the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6th, remembering the day 150,000 allied soldiers invaded Normandy, France, which was occupied by Nazi Germany in 1944. This event ultimately led to the liberation of Europe.

Will Ridgewood Parents Have to Sign a Wavier For Children to Play on Artificial Turf Fields

Ridgewood NJ, at the Ridgewood Board of Education meeting on May 20, due to concerns raised by residents, it was discussed whether parents whose children will be playing on artificial turf fields might be asked to sign a waiver. This would indicate that there are known health risks to playing on turf, and that the parents are aware and give consent to let their children play.  The superintendent was directed to call the Board attorney for an opinion on this matter.  Stay tuned.
