The Brogan project is a disaster for the town. None of these high density projects will benefit anyone except the developers and their attorneys. Westfield is paying attention – it does not want to become Montclair or Hackensack which is where Ridgewood is headed. Where do the developers and their attorneys live?
What has started at Brogan will sweep the whole Ridgewood. In a couple of years it will be a brand new city. Oh, and for those who think new housing does not affect schools greatschools.org just lowered RHS grade to 9 from 10. It had been a 10 for many, many years. I can only imagine what the grade will be in a few years at which time we can all kiss goodbye our house values.

This video was originally published in 1986 by James Rose in conjunction with his book The Heavenly Environment. It has been digitally reproduced by The James Rose Center for Landscape Architectural Research and Design. For the first time, this video is now available for public viewing and distribution. It entails shots of several private and largely undiscovered gardens designed by James Rose, as well as shots from his personal residence (now the James Rose Center) in Ridgewood, NJ.
Rose discusses suburban design norms and their inadequacies, alternatives to these norms, and designing gardens based on site characteristics as well as clients’ needs. He covers many topics, such as entrances, paths, swimming pools, screening, zoning, and more.

The Ridgewood Arts Council will also provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to the Village Council, as needed.
The Library Board of Trustees is the governing board for the Ridgewood Public Library and its employees. The Board of Trustees works with the community to establish Library policy and secures funds to carry on services to the public, and set goals and objectives.
The Ridgewood Community Center Advisory Board develops policies and procedures for the operation of the Community Center facility and assists in the fulfillment of the County Municipal Alliance Grant requirements. The member position open is for a resident with children in the Ridgewood school system.
The Shade Tree Commission works closely with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Ridgewood Environmental Advisory Committee, and the Green Team to promote awareness and education of the residents as well as advise and provide recommendations to the Village Council in promoting and sustaining a safe and productive shade tree resource.

Ground Water Under Direct Influence of Surface Water (GWUDI)

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water completed a year-long study of its supply well system to evaluate the vulnerability of the wells to microbiological contamination from nearby surface water bodies.
Ridgewood Water performed the GWUDI study under a rigorous Source Water Monitoring Plan which was approved by the EPA. The study involved the collection of water samples from up to 38 wells and three surface water locations on a weekly and biweekly basis. The samples were analyzed in the laboratory for evidence of microbiologic activity and for other “indicator parameters” that may indicate surface water influence.
All samples were collected and analyzed by an NJDEP-certified laboratory and were reported on a quarterly basis to the NJDEP and EPA.
Group 1 Wells (2 locations)For the two Group 1 wells, EPA determined that the occasional presence of of e.coli in raw water required further assessment to determine whether there is evidence of a direct connection of these sources to surface water. Ridgewood performed weekly raw water monitoring at the two Group 1 wells for the presence of fecal coliform, e. coli and turbidity.

Group 2 Wells– (3 locations)
For the three Group 2 wells, EPA determined that the occasional presence of of e.coli in raw water required further assessment to determine the degree of influence of nearby surface water on each well and whether there is a need for additional treatment. Ridgewood Water performed weekly raw water monitoring at the two Group 2 wells for the presence of fecal coliform, e. coli, aerobic spores, pH, temperature and turbidity. Ridgewood also performed weekly surface water monitoring at associated surface water bodies for the same parameters. The third well has been shut down and is being reevaluated for reconstruction or permanent closure.
Group 3 Wells – (33 locations)
The 33 Group 3 wells have not exhibited any evidence of being under the influence of surface water. These wells were previously screened by NJDEP and were not found to warrant additional assessment. As such, the NJDEP issued monitoring waivers to Ridgewood for these wells. EPA has determined that a further assessment of these wells was warranted. The monitoring consisted of biweekly raw water sampling and analysis for e.coli bacteria.
Ridgewood also performed Hydrogeologic Sensitivity Assessments (HSAs) of all Group 3 wells. These are reviews of the conditions and potential sources of surface contamination at each location to assess their vulnerability to future microbiologic contamination.
Elmwood Park NJ, A Bergen County, New Jersey, man today admitted conspiring with his father to file false federal tax returns for shell companies, resulting in $191,953 in fraudulent refunds, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.
Jason Crespo, 35, of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares in Newark federal court to an information charging him with one count of conspiring with Jose Crespo, his father, to defraud the IRS by filing false corporate tax returns and cashing the resulting fraudulent refund checks.
According to the documents filed in this case and statements made in court:
Between 2010 and 2012, Jason and Jose Crespo filed numerous false federal corporate tax returns – IRS Forms 1120 – for fake businesses, knowing that the businesses were not real and that the credits claimed on the tax returns were false. The Crespos took advantage of fuel excise tax credits offered under federal tax law. The federal government taxes gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain other types of fuel, but certain commercial uses of these fuels are nontaxable. Businesses that purchase fuel for a nontaxable use can claim a tax credit by filing a “Credit for Federal Tax Paid on Fuels” – IRS Form 4136.
In one instance Jason and Jose Crespo filed a federal corporate tax return for 2008 for Jason Cleaning Service Corp. that falsely claimed a fuel excise tax credit of $14,556 and a resulting refund of $10,592. In fact, Jason Cleaning Service Corporation was a shell company and the fuel excise tax credit and other tax return numbers were false. Jason Crespo received and cashed the $10,592 refund check at a check-cashing facility in Guttenberg, New Jersey. He cashed many other refund checks for similar false tax returns at this same facility.
Jose Crespo pleaded guilty on Sept. 11, 2017, before Judge Linares to engaging in the fuel excise tax credit scheme and another tax fraud scheme, both of which claimed fraudulent refunds from the IRS of approximately $1.5 million. Jose Crespo was sentenced on Dec. 20, 2017, to three years in prison.
Marilyn Crespo, Jose Crespo’s wife, pleaded guilty on March 1, 2018, before Judge Linares to engaging in the same fuel excise tax credit scheme and causing a loss to the IRS of $286,742. She was sentenced June 27, 2018, to one year and one day in prison.
The filing a false tax return count carries a maximum potential penalty of three years in prison, and a potential $250,000 fine, or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense. Jason Crespo’s sentencing is set for Oct. 4, 2018.
U.S. Attorney Carpenito credited special agents of IRS-Criminal Investigation, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge Bryant Jackson, with the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea.
Ridgewood NJ, You don’t need citronella candles, DEET spray, or any wonky hacks to keep nasty mosquitoes away from you. The simple solution to repelling these bugs is an electric fan. Yes ,according to the American Mosquito Control Association a large fan on your deck would work because mosquitoes are weak fliers.
The fan will create a windstorm which should provide enough of a gust to keep bugs away. Plus, fans help dissipate the carbon dioxide you exhale and reduce body heat, both of which have been found to attract mosquitoes.
The New York Times also reports that a fan’s breeze “disperses the human emanations that allow female mosquitos [the gender that bites us] to zero in on us.” Entomologists from Michigan State University found that fan-generated wind greatly reduces mosquitoes and they recommend we use it in our backyards to protect ourselves and our pets.
