Ridgewood NJ, Village Councilmember Siobhan Winograd got her knickers in a twist this past week when an issue involving the joint Ridgewood Public Schools/Village of Ridgewood Fields Committee was discussed during the Monday, April 7 public Board of Education meeting without prior notification to her. The issue concerned lack of Internet service at the Village owned Schedler House, the proposed location of a Fields Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. The absence of Internet service would prevent live streaming and remote meeting participation.  “Just write me and I will answer for the statements I made.” Said Ms. Winograd after she expressed her surprise that there was a “general discussion” about the matter during a Ridgewood Board of Education Meeting.

While those are dangerous distractions, the most dangerous ones are texting and driving. This kind of distraction is three times more dangerous because it distracts you visually from the road, manually from the steering wheel, and mentally from driving. That simply means your vehicle is cruising without a driver.

The widespread dissemination of these claims—along with an image of the alleged list on social media—understandably caused public concern and prompted overnight action by school and law enforcement officials to ensure that it was safe to open schools today.
