Amy Coney Barrett becomes the 115th justice to serve on the Supreme Court

Washington DC, Amy Coney Barrett becomes the 115th justice to serve on the Supreme Court, succeeding the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and cementing a 6-3 conservative majority on the court.

President Trump looked on as Justice Clarence Thomas administered the official constitutional oath to Barrett before a crowd on the South Lawn of the White House, roughly an hour after the GOP-controlled Senate confirmed Trump’s third nominee to the high court in a largely party-line vote. They stood on the White House balcony, which was decorated with American flags.

Department of Justice files Antitrust lawsuit against Google

Washington DC, the Department of Justice  has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google Tuesday, focusing on the tech giant’s dominance in online search.  Eleven Republican state attorneys general joined the DOJ as plaintiffs in the case: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina and Texas, according to an open docket of the case filed Tuesday morning.

Over 300 People Facing Federal Charges For Crimes Committed During Nationwide “Mostly Peaceful” Demonstrations

Washington DC, The Department of Justice announced today that more than 300 individuals in 29 states and Washington, D.C., have been charged for crimes committed adjacent to or under the guise of peaceful demonstrations since the end of May.

To date, of the 94 U.S. Attorneys’ Offices (USAOs), more than 40 USAOs have filed federal charges alleging crimes ranging from attempted murder, assaulting a law enforcement officer, arson, burglary of a federally-licensed firearms dealer, damaging federal property, malicious destruction of property using fire or explosives, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, unlawful possession of a destructive device, inciting a riot, felony civil disorder, and others.  Violent opportunists have exploited these demonstrations in various ways.

The 87-page interim report is the product of a months-long probe in which members of the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committees and their staff reviewed more than 45,000 pages of Obama administration records and interviewed eight witnesses, many of whom are current or former U.S. officials.
