Bergen County Grant Programs to Provide Financial Relief for Municipalities and Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19 Pandemic

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announces that the County of Bergen will launch a grant program to provide relief for municipalities straddled with expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic and small businesses financially impacted by the government ordered shutdown. The programs, which utilize CARES Act relief funds, will provide direct reimbursement to municipalities for costs associated with health officials, law enforcement, personal protective equipment (PPE) and social distancing improvements.  “Non-essential” businesses that were forced to close as a measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 can receive up to $10,000 in financial relief to cover rent, property mortgage, and utilities expenses.

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has issued an updated executive order extending the declared county state of emergency with modifications in accordance with Governor Phil Murphy’s ongoing plan to relax restrictions on low-risk activities. Executive Order No. 2020-01G specifically addresses the reopening of additional amenities in county parks, outdoor dining, and non-essential retail.

Over 6,500 residents have been tested for the COVID-19 virus and COVID-19 antibodies as part of this ongoing initiative which brings testing directly to communities across the county.

Paramus NJ, in perhaps what some would call a day late and a dollar short,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has announced that the County of Bergen/Bergen New Bridge Medical Center community mobile testing program will offer additional testing locations to reach more residents across Bergen County. In the first week of community mobile testing, over 2,000 residents were tested in Englewood, Hackensack, Fairview, and Garfield.

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announces that the County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center will partner to bring mobile testing to communities across the county starting next Tuesday, May 12. This community mobile testing program will offer walk-up Saliva COVID-19 tests and COVID-19 Antibody tests to county and municipal residents as well as first responders, healthcare workers, and municipal or county employees who works in Bergen County with proof of employment.

Hackensack NJ, An Executive Order will be issued to re-open most sites within Bergen County’s Park System and golf courses effective Saturday, May 2nd with some exceptions such as the Bergen County Zoo and the McFaul Environmental Center, which shall remain closed. Golf courses will open gradually starting with Soldier Hill and Valley Brook Golf Courses opening for play effective Saturday.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center COVID-19 Drive-Thru Testing Site Now Open to All Municipal and County Employees 7 Days Per Week

Paramus NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has announced that the COVID-19 drive-thru test site at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is now open to all municipal employees who work in any of the County’s 70 municipalities regardless of residency by appointment seven days per week.  Proof of employment within the municipality will be required.  Moreover, the test site is also open to all County employees regardless of residency with proof of employment.  All governmental employees must be symptomatic to be tested.

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco on Friday issued Executive Order 2020-01E to close County parks to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The County enacted these measures in a further effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Executive Order, which is attached to this email, takes effect tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 8 a.m.

BREAKING: Tedesco Rescinds Executive Order Declaring State of Emergency in Bergen County At the Request of the Governor

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco today rescinded his Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency in the County at the request of the Governor.  The County Executive will hold a news conference today – March 19 – at 5:30 p.m. at Two Bergen County Plaza to discuss these recent developments and the next steps he will be taking to protect the residents, visitors and workers of Bergen County.

Tedesco said on Wednesday that he submitted the revised executive order to the Governor for review.  During his daily briefing on Tuesday, Murphy appealed to county and local governments to coordinate with the state. “We will override local and county actions to make sure we are consistent in our approach,” Murphy said.
