Ridgewood NJ, In celebration of Earth Day, NJ TRANSIT is continuing its mission to advance sustainable transportation and environmental responsibility through new and ongoing initiatives. This year, NJ TRANSIT is offering new customers an opportunity to Try TRANSIT free – and will also launch its first ever Bicycle, Scooter and Pedestrian Access Survey. The survey aims to gather information and assist NJ TRANSIT in supporting safer access to public transit for cyclists, scooter riders, and pedestrians.

Ridgewood NJ, In New Jersey, anyone under 17 years of age that rides a bicycle or is a passenger on a bicycle, or is towed as a passenger by a bicycle must wear a safety helmet. … All helmets must be properly fastened and fitted.

Looks like many young people not wearing helmets , the Ridgewood Police should ticket every single child and every parent for encouraging law breaking.

Glen Rock Police Seek Truck in Hit and Run with Cyclist

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police are seeking information regarding a truck that hit a cyclist at the intersection of Harristown Road and Berkeley Place around 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28th. A female bicyclist had been hit by the passenger side mirror of a truck, which had left the scene by the time officers arrived. Fortunately the women declined medical aid and appeared unhurt . The victim described the truck as a black utility-type vehicle commonly used for construction or landscaping.

The Glen Rock Police are investigating the matter. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could help identify the vehicle or driver is asked to contact Glen Rock police: (201) 652-3800.

Have an old bike taking up space? Need a “new” bike? Come to the 2nd Annual Recycle-Your-Bicycle event at George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood on May 13th and 14th. Here’s how it works: Donate your old bike on Friday, May 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and receive a voucher to return the next day from 9:00 – 11:00 am to buy any bike for $10.00. If you don’t have one to donate, you can still buy one for $30.00. All left over bikes and all the money generated will be donated to Charities for Children in Paterson who provide food and services for some of the areas neediest people. Everybody wins! Glen Rock NJ, A 15-year old male Glen Rock resident riding his bicycle was struck by a car and injured at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Rock Road on Tuesday morning, 08/04. The youth’s injuries were minor; he was treated on the scene by members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The driver of the car that struck the victim remained on the scene and cooperated with Glen Rock police officers. The incident was reported shortly after 10 AM.
